Organic Power Cord with Micro-Detail Very interesting, @aniwolfe . I have an Oyaide SPDIF coax and it has a superb black background plus excellent detail. Maybe there is a "house sound" for this brand.
How much acoustic room treatment Too bad you have to ruin the walls in your home using adhesive with the Acoustical Surfaces.
Organic Power Cord with Micro-Detail The Audience PowerChord series present organic, warm sonics. A low noise floor allows for very good microdetail. Under $500 used.
PC or Line Conditioner IMO, the first step would be to install dedicated AC lines from your circuit panel, if possible. This would isolate your audio from other circuits and appliances that add noise throughout your AC mains.Regarding power conditioning, if you have sta...

Mid-fi integrated tube amp advice I've listened to the Q900 driven by a 30W EL34 push-pull amp. Sounded very nice; neutral/warm, wide and deep soundstaging, and great extension without any brightness.
Inexpensive Tube Amps @stereo5 , I'm sorry to hear about the terrible experience you had. Not to undermine your story, but on this forum I've read about a PrimaLuna and at least two Jolida amps catching fire. So what's a buyer to do regarding Chinese-built amps? Do we...
Inexpensive Tube Amps I agree with @atmasphere , although I bow to his expertise.
Inexpensive Tube Amps If YOU are referring to me, I know this is a different OP. Just informing him that I would not trust a cheap Chinese amp in the long run. You get what you pay for.
Inexpensive Tube Amps Read the current thread, First Tube Amp. The OP is auditioning a Yaquin, a highly regarded Chinese built tube amp found on Amazon. These seem to be a cut above the mass produced Chinese amps and may be a keeper. Also, sensitivity of the speaker is...
Minimum recommended amplification requirements and amplifier matching I agree with Willem and hifiman. There's more to driving speakers than the 90dB spec, and we don't know if the stated sensitivity is rated for 8 ohms or 4 ohms. In addition to sensitivity, the impedance curve is an important factor; how much power...
Question for tube aficionados @newbee , you may be right. I traced the PV11 preamp back to at least 1992, so the Ei and Mullard could have been NOS. But CJ is now re-tubing the unit, and $310 is a very low price to include 2 NOS Mullards.
Question for tube aficionados It sounds like these are new production tubes. To go in this direction would get u right back where you started. The only upgrade path is to try NOS.
First Tube Amp I generally stay away from all-Chinese products, but have read only good things about Yaquin on this forum.
First Tube Amp Which Chinese integrated are you using? Maybe there is no reason to change at this point in time. |
