Cable elevators Ah, but what about cable escalators? Anyone ever try them?
Tuners that do it? Right now there are several deals on inexpensive tunas on USAaudiomart. A Creek CAS-3140, Perreaux TU1, Quad FM4, and Denon TU800. I liked my old Quad, although I had an earlier version of it. Always thought the Perreaux was a very cool looking...
And B&K owners here? The EX442 is 200 into 8, 360 into 4 with 75 amps peak to peak, while the ST140 was only 105 wpc and 28 amps I think. The EX442 just sounded much beefier. I had them at 2 different times so I couldn't A/B them. When I sold the EX442, I immediate...
And B&K owners here? I had an ST140 many years ago and also the EX442 Sonata, both were great amps and very tubelike. I replaced them both for tube amps. Scary how tubey those B&K's sound. If replacing the ST140 for another SS amp, I'd look for Mosfets like a PS ...
Tuners that do it? Here's the list of tuners I've owned over the years. I've had the Creek CAS-3140 for about a dozen years now, don't see getting rid of it anytime soon at all, I like it that much. Here we go, from 1/14/14:1. Harman Kardon 330C rec'r2. Mitsubishi...

Need Some Answers Building My First Home Audio System, and using Cornwalls SE stands for single ended and yes I guess you would need something different on your tv. I'm sorry, I haven't read thru all the comments on this thread; so I don't know what you are trying to achieve on the video end.I've never been much of a vi...
Components I would have died for when I was a wee pup I heard the Son of Ampzilla once, ok sounding but I thought a B&K ST140 would trounce it then again I like mosfets over bipolar outputs
The Best Cities & States to Find High End Gear I agree with all of the above websites; never been on HiFi Shark and will check that out. You would be surprised of the bargains that can be had on CL though because people just want to get rid of stuff there. Several years ago I bought a pair o...
Need Some Answers Building My First Home Audio System, and using Cornwalls I know you don't want to get into tube gear; however, if you really want to hear how good those Cornwalls are you have to put low powered single ended tube amps on it. It can be done reasonably in your price range too. I used to sell Klipsch spe...
Components I would have died for when I was a wee pup When I was a little older than a wee pup and totally into this hobby in my mid 20's, I would venture into a few Phila area stores and pretty much wanted everythingSassafras Audio: Perreaux, cj walker, Maggies, cj, Audio Research, Tandberg, Sonogr...
Components I would have died for when I was a wee pup I started out with a Harman Kardon 330C but the cats meow was the Nak Dragon cassette and the RX505 auto reverse table and all the Bang & Olufsen stuff. When I went to college a few years later I remember loving the Mitsubishi receivers with ...
Recommendations for used/vintage integrated for vinyl Also, leave the power on all the time on the electronics you get
Recommendations for used/vintage integrated for vinyl Agree with Viridian. I've owned the Onix OA21s and currently an OA20/2, they are both incredible. Hard to come by though. The OA21 is 50 wpc I believe with a phono stage, the 20/2 is 30 wpc. These are much better than vintage Japanese int amps... |
