750$ Intel NUC vs $6000 Aurender N200: I don't hear the difference
@metaldetektor @essrand If you want a USB DAC the Musetec MH-DA005 uses an Amenero board for the USB. As a long time advocate of AES/EBU I’ve been literally blown away using this DAC with the USB input fed from my Aurender N20, which also has a 10...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
It's fiber optic isolation. The input and output are isolated by a fiber optic cable. It's similar to what Sonore do but they use 3 or more boxes to do it IIRC.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
Not bothered about streaming at the moment but I've extensively listened to this fiber box and can say it's very well made and sounds wonderful. However I've never listened to the Sonore. https://ediscreation.com/product/fiber-box/
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@melm Thanks again. I agree the USB input is just wonderful and just keeps getting better. I’m at the stage now where I believe everything sounds better through USB! This is a first for me because I’ve always had better sound with AES/EBU, that’s...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@sns Hi and thanks. The online manual recommends to use the lowest DPLL settings for the best SQ. PCM BW01-BW03 DSD BW06-BW10 Obviously these will get tweaked over time and fine tuned, lower the setting more detail, take it up a notch or two to...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@melm Well I’m finally onboard after Christmas Customs delays and an eventful experience dealing with Shenzhen Audio. I won’t berate them except to say you’ll be much better off phoning them and giving your shipping instructions, waybill informati...
Clocking: again!
@dougthebiker  Hi Doug, This is what the manufacturer says and to be honest clocking the Etherregen alone, I doubt is going to produce such a big change as clocking your streamer and/or DAC together with the Etherregen.   Extreme usage with an E...
Clocking: again!
@sns If you're using computer audio your first priority should be a re-clocker. If you have a streamer then a Master Clock but it all depends if these devices have a clock input. If you PM your personal case maybe I can assist.
Aqua 'La Diva' ($9k) or Gryphon 'Ethos' ($39k) versus. Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T ($3k)?
OMG I've got a massive hard on for rich people and I'm just a poor person on a hifi forum and I've got a secret I paid $15k USD for a pair of interconnects once, does that make me bad? Should i have given the money to Bob Geldof or Sting? Listen ...
Fuses
30 amp 6 inch 500 volt or you may check with the manufacturer.
Upgrade Bluesound DAC or go to Aurrender?
In order of value for money and SQ: 1.N20 2.N10 Second hand bargain 3.N100 I've never heard the W20/SE but the N30 is over twice the price of the N20 and it doesn't beat the N20 by much plus it's two boxes. Any Aurender will give stellar perf...
Clocking: again!
There are 3 factors involved here; I. Master Clocks 10 Mhz 75 or 50 Ohm 2.Word Clocks which have to be manually switched to the frequency of the source recording e.g. 44.1, 48, 192 kHz etc. 3.Re-Clockers which reprocess and de-jitter a signal b...
Clocking: again!
@discopants You're only going to get the max effect if you clocked your streamer and the Etherregen simultaneously and your DAC too, if possible. It's probably not the cheapness of your clock it's the crappy switching wall wart PS that came with ...
Clocking: again!
NO NO NO! A 10Mhz Master Clock acts as a metronome to any internal clock wherever it is. It doesn't take over just provides perfect as possible timing to every component that accepts a 10 Mhz 75 or 50 Ohm input. It is the Conductor that provides...
Two Sources, One DAC
Your Denon will probably only have COAX and Toslink digital outputs as does your Node so they will both be fighting for the same COAX input on the DAC unless the Denon has aes/ebu out or you can find a DAC that takes two COAX inputs. Forget Toslin...
