Best streamers WITHOUT a DAC @raueda1 My experience is similar to Mr. Prentice, I went the full gamut of computer audio when my Wadia 781i SACD died. Take a lesson, Wadia is now tits up and getting one fixed is almost impossible. So you really want to buy something that’s st...
Need recommendations for cheap/good 10MHz Clock Genrator to plug into DDC, which feeds DAC @fai_v Hi, To be honest I’d forget about the clock and DDC/re-clocker at the moment. The Gustard X26 is about $1.5k. Consider moving up to the Musetec MH-DA005 which you should be able to get for $3k including shipping from Shenzhen Audio or the f...
Worst Rock Band Ever !!!! @audition__audio Agree how could the Dead make Live Dead which is one of my favorite albums, with the fantastic Dark Star, then make consistent crap. Jeff Beck he's made the same album 100 times. Lots of other bad eggs out there.
Looking for the best power conditioner or regenerator or any product like it for under 2k. Plixir, but shipping will cost you these things weigh a ton. Fully balanced power supply. Hope you have a dealer nearby.
Denefrips Pontus "burn in" period? @jin78 It'll all be fine. Don't jump just yet. Most gear including cables need about a month to burn in. It'll be fine.
Emm Labs DV2 versus Tambaqui If you like silky smooth mid-range I suspect you like tube amps. The 005 doesn't, as most solid state products, emphasize any particular part of the music. What you do get is detail in abundance, not sharp mechanical detail but the breath on a mi...
CD transport vs.streaming If you are a real music fanatic CDs and ripped CDs are the best option because for some albums I have ten or more different remastered versions of the original plus loads of bootlegs which aren't available on streaming services. I know it's comple...
SPDIF Digital Cable Recommendations @willgolf I'm currently using a Hi Diamond Reference AES/EBU which I think is excellent value, about $1k However the "nuts" seems to be the Shunyata Omega which is around $3k. Hope to try it out soon. Crystal Cable is also up there but you need ...
Burn in period @wgh64 Hi, only the power cables handle AC all your other cables are DC. You are correct AC switches back and forth but voltage is the potential difference which means it's higher on the mains side than the input (component) side. Otherwise it co...
Burn in period When a cable wire is formed it's drawn through a die. This aligns the metal in a certain direction so this is why manufacturers believe cables are directional. They should follow the way they were formed/forged. Hope this helps.
聖HIJIRI Users thread @grannyring Perfect, I was looking for a good PC to power my power conditioner or an extension bar fed from my conditioner, just the job. Thank you.
Emm Labs DV2 versus Tambaqui The video mentions that the Holo May has a better SNR than the Mola Mola maybe you need to watch it again. There's lots of info out there but if you want to buy a designer product at 2-3x the price go for it. IMHO DAC chips are best because they ...
聖HIJIRI Users thread @grannyring Thanks buddy I agree $5k+ is not what I would want to spend either. I'll probably give the Nagomi's a try. Do you find they are better suited to power applications or pre-amps,servers and DACs? Appreciated.
