TDM 24CX-4 Stereo 3-way / Quad 2-way questions What?
What is turntable “liveliness”. I am surprised, after re-reading some of this thread, that apparently no one brought up Ivor Tiefenbrun’s acronym, PRaT. He coined it as a marketing tool for his LP12. Is that what the OP is getting at? The sense of the liveliness of a sprung turn...
Recommendations for a jazz record which demonstrates vinyl superiority over digital jerroldis, The OP has since modified his question to say he just wants to identify high quality jazz LPs, even though jazz is not his cup of music. We all agree that the question about "proving" that analog is superior to digital is a can of worms...
Recommendations for MM Phono ~ Tube or Solid State Scar, now that you’ve provided more detail in your past history, I would say you have about as much data as many of us have to support our convictions. At some point one wants to stop experimenting and move on to other audio dilemmas. But after I ...
Recommendations for MM Phono ~ Tube or Solid State scar972, Your thinking is a good example of faulty audiophile thinking. Because you bought one SUT and compared it (evidently) to one high gain phono stage, you are drawing a universal conclusion that SUTs are superior to high gain phono stages (...
Audio Innovations Series 800 SUT - looking for info The switch most likely has nothing to do with "loading". The switch more likely indicates the recommended internal resistance of the cartridge. In other words, for a cartridge with an internal resistance of ~3 ohms, use the 3 ohm inputs. For a c...
Recommendations for MM Phono ~ Tube or Solid State More to the point, if you are investing in an outboard SUT, you can make the case that you don't need the H6500, because in paying for the H6500, you are buying its built in SUTs, which will become superfluous. The words that Raul quoted led me, a...
Recommendations for MM Phono ~ Tube or Solid State As Raul pointed out, you seemed delighted with the H6500 barely more than a month ago. What changed? If you can figure that out, it might help in making your next purchase, more than accumulating subjective opinions voiced by strangers on audiophi...
Recommendations for MM Phono ~ Tube or Solid State What do the sales data say? Do Allnic components sell used at a bigger discount off the retail cost, compared to other major high end brands?
The Shure V15 V with a Jico SAS/B stylus VS The Soundsmith Hyperion MR and Lyra Atlas SL You listen to "modern electronic music"? Just kidding. If I lived in rural New Hampshire, I would have a Ducati for sure.
Recommendations for a jazz record which demonstrates vinyl superiority over digital No, I think you have a point, and that's why I get aggravated by some who say they don't like jazz but who then cite music or musicians that I don't think of as jazz-y in any sense, as examples. I must admit my own idea of jazz is fairly parochia...
The Shure V15 V with a Jico SAS/B stylus VS The Soundsmith Hyperion MR and Lyra Atlas SL Here they give the specs for the DH-3P, showing a frequency response pretty flat between 4500 and down -6db at 37kHz. Drops off pretty fast below 4500Hz. For me, the term "midrange" makes me think 500 to 2000Hz. But the definition is plastic.
Recommendations for MM Phono ~ Tube or Solid State Why do you say Allnic has poor resale value? Not based on my perusal of the for sale ads here. I guess it depends upon how you define "poor".
Recommendations for a jazz record which demonstrates vinyl superiority over digital Grisly, I’m sure Paul can play in the jazz idiom, but he’s no “jazz musician”.
Recommendations for a jazz record which demonstrates vinyl superiority over digital Also great Chet Baker recordings on Sam’s Records, in mono, pressed in France. I’ve got at least two, maybe three albums. All make you forget that the signal is mono. Quality of the vinyl is the highest. |
