Synergistic PHT... any other PHT heads here?
If you do try a PHT, it would be a good idea to have a disinterested and uninformed person with good ears audition the system, with vs without the PHT. But don’t tell the other person what you are doing. That’s called a single-blind trial. It help...
Difference among Denon turntable plinths DK100, DK100G, DK100F, DK200, and DK300?
I only can tell you that the DK300 was the plinth that came with my Denon DP80 in an ensemble that included the DA307 tonearm.  It was a single-arm plinth.  Because they paired it with the DP80, I have to assume it was top of the line for that per...
New Audio Technica ART9XA Up and Running.....
Yes, but the XA version is more of a replacement for the ART7 than it is a replacement for the ART9.  So, those who switch from the ART9 to the 9XA will need a bit more phono gain. It's all good, however.

Millercarbon, maybe your ecstatic mood is induced by your various PHTs placed strategically here and there.

Mono vinyl, how do you know if really single channel mono or if stereo recorded to mono
The Miyajima website has a nice short summary of what stylus widths work best with what vintage of mono LP. But unless one has a collection that includes 78s and/or very early LPs cut pre-1950 or in the early 50s, I don’t think this is much of an ...
Denon DA 307 and DA 309
To brush or not to brush is an interesting and debatable question.  I elect not to use the brush, but I have no firm philosophy in mind except I am averse to attachments that could do harm as well as good.  One logical objection to the brush, that...
Denon DA 307 and DA 309
VTF is not always or necessarily inversely proportional to compliance, but in this case I guess it is, if Chak says so. Also, historically many users removed those brushes from the Pickering and Stanton cartridges prior to use. If you consult the ...
Newbie Issues: Grace F9 with Micro Seiki DD-40
Even an NOS vintage cartridge of the brands and models that you tout, Chakster, is going to be more than 40 years old.  That in itself makes them a crapshoot.  The OP needs to keep that in mind, as well.
Newbie Issues: Grace F9 with Micro Seiki DD-40
I agree completely with Raul. You just had a bad experience with a vintage phono cartridge. Why go on that pathway again? Also, while the cartridges that Chak  recommends are indeed excellent, no one else I know can find them for sale as easily as...
Having A Tough Time Justifying More Than One Table
Dear Neon, Your experience here is like an alcoholic visiting his favorite pub in order to get help with his drinking problem.  There's nothing wrong with your acquisitive habit; it's up to you to decide whether and how much to control it.
Any truth to my feeling that MM carts are possibly better than MC on rock recordings?

Logical upgrades to a DD turntable.
In fairness, I forgot to mention also that the company KAB sell a number of add-ons that also improve the 1200 series turntables. But none of these devices, although effective, can turn a 1200 into a 1200 G series. If your budget doesNot permit bu...
Logical upgrades to a DD turntable.
If you know how to solder and have even an elementary understanding of electronics , there are a few things you can do like improving the wiring and improving the quality of the RCA jacks, etc. But if you are willing to spend some bigger money, th...
