New Synergistic Research Record Mat testpilot, SR and their customers are credulous. Their claims are incredible.
Mono vinyl, how do you know if really single channel mono or if stereo recorded to mono "Ella and Louis" on Verve. If ever you wouldn't care a fig about stereo vs mono, it is when listening to that recording. Just sublime. It was recorded in the 50s, only in mono. It's been re-issued more than once in fake stereo. It's a must.
VTA & SRA question! Yes it would. But they are two different Angles.
Technics SL-1200GR setup question I have commonly found that lowering the pivot with respect to the headshell does shift tonal balance toward the bass and that raising the pivot above level with respect to the headshell does shift tonal balance toward the treble, which, as you say...
New Synergistic Research Record Mat Fuzz, that record mat you cited would make me cross-eyed, if I watched it spinning on my turntable. However, it is very good value for money compared to the subject of this thread.
Technics SL-1200GR setup question Thanks for responding to my question, Audionoobie. The 1200 GR is a very popular choice among those who post here. I wonder whether anyone else who owns the 1200 GR with its standard tonearm could comment on your experience . I still find it odd o...
New Synergistic Research Record Mat $10 for carbon fiber. $385 for UEF “treatment “.What PT Barnum said.
Technics SL-1200GR setup question Chakster, Was vdH talking about a general rule for all cartridges or about Denon cartridges or about the Technics 1200GR or what? Because that single suggestion is unlikely to be optimal for all combinations of tonearm. cartridge, turntable. To the...
DIY Stylus Guard Help Perhaps I was too emphatic. I would look for something that already exists around my house, a piece of curved plastic for example. Or that cork would be fine once you've carved it up appropriately. Then tape it over the stylus assembly using ea...
DIY Stylus Guard Help Making a stylus guard is about as dangerous to the stylus as any other job that forces you to put the stylus in jeopardy. I wouldn't do it at all.
Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma Dover, You raise a question about which I have long wondered. We discuss the "grave" consequences of tracking angle error as if they are factual, which is to say verified by actual experiments. The claims for a correlation with distortion and ph...
Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma Raul, I mentioned in my long post that although I do own the RS Labs tonearm, I don't use it much, for the other reasons cited. It is "tricky" to use, has no cueing device, and places the cartridge in jeopardy, because the unipivot bearing does n...
Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma Yes, Raul, it is useless. You cannot use it to make a campfire or to deliver a baby or change a tire. All of this discussion is useless, on that level. I'm sorry if I offended you by my choice of subject. But can you see how all the blather ab...
Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma Just one comment about the much misunderstood underhung group of tonearms. There are only a very few of them that I know about: RS Labs RS-A1, Viv Float, and the Yamaha. Can anyone name others? These are all straight tonearms with no headshell off...
Audiophile turntables of the 60's and 70's I see I made a few language typos above. Too late to fix them. But you get the point. The Goldmund turntable to which I referred was the Reference. See here.https://zstereo.co.uk/2014/01/22/goldmund-reference/It’s still highly collectible if not a... |
