Teres Audio motor help!
I may change my moniker to "Leek".
Teres Audio motor help!
Sorry, I thought that the Redpoint, Teres, and Galibier turntables had a common origin, from a group of guys in Colorado and vicinity who started out to build their own turntables and ended up in separate businesses.  Push come to shove, Thom Mack...

Why not contact Tom Mackris of Galibier?
Gold Note PH10, Bryston BP2, Clear Audio Smart V2
Just to point out that both the phono input and the phono cable will inevitably have some capacitance and that both parameters need to be taken into account if you want precise control of the capacitance load. The switches for input capacitance on...
The Wand turntable
austinstereo and OP, Just to be clear, I am not recommending a change of cartridge based in any way upon the cost of the cartridge vs the cost of a tonearm. My point was in answer to the OP’s question which is in general about his interest in upgr...

Define “the best”.
The Wand turntable
Aqvox is very very good, by all accounts.  What's more, isn't it one of the current-drive phono stages?  If so, it would probably perform closer to its max if you used a lower impedance cartridge to drive it. I just looked up the specs of the BP2;...
The Wand turntable
I apologize for this comment, because it is beside the question you raised, but if you did purchase a turntable and tonearm or just a tonearm that was superior to what you already own, then in my opinion you would have to get a better cartridge in...

Need help: turntable market in the $1500-$2000 range is overwhelming

Yeah.  Some direct-drive turntables are better than others.  Just kidding, Russ. I really do agree with you.
Need help: turntable market in the $1500-$2000 range is overwhelming
The OP wrote, "I’m agnostic at best about direct drive. Yeah, I’m dumb."You might have a point that this statement does not entirely rule out DD. My own point is that if someone wants to buy one of those cookie-cutter belt-drives, I let them.  As ...

You explicitly said you are not interested in a direct-drive turntable, and yet at least 3 of us recommended direct drive.  I won't add to the list, but I will say that among the belt-drive turntables you did list as options there is not much diff...

Issue with dynamic range database
Seems to me as a total lay person in this field, and speaking only to the question of which process is more "dynamic", that if either your input RIAA emphasis or your phono stage's RIAA compensation circuit are not perfect, then that will inevitab...
