What is the Silliest Accessory You Have Ever Seen.
twoleftears, Love your coat of arms.
Help - Phono stages dying!!
Based on the very limited information, I have the impression that the failure is occurring somewhere at the phono stage input, if for no other reason than the fact that the OP needs to play a record in order for something to blow.  Because apparen...

Benjie, You wrote, "I read your post above and I disagree with you, most people here do not agree with my sentiments."I quoted you in order to avoid the tricky double negative in your sentence.  For the record, I certainly do agree with the merit ...
Help - Phono stages dying!!
Shorting the grid of a tube or the gate of a transistor to ground would eventually blow the device. Could be anywhere from cartridge itself to phono input. Because this problem has recurred with three different phono stages, that tends to make me ...
Having trouble reducing the vibrations on my turntable setup
The rationale for using only three footers under any single piece of gear is that three points define a plane. Whereas when you add a fourth point you don’t necessarily have a plane. Hence the device can rock back-and-forth on any two of its 4 poi...
Help - Phono stages dying!!
I am forgetting the fine details of your story. Is this problem occurring always with the same cartridge and the same wiring from cartridge to phono input? If so, I am wondering whether you are experiencing an intermittent short between the hot an...
Vinyl headache from hell!!!
Don’t leave us hanging. Did you hear the same static on the same LPs at your friend’s house, as you were experiencing on your own system?
Having trouble reducing the vibrations on my turntable setup
I agree with whoever said that banging on the plinth or the shelf as a test for isolation  is beside the point, at best.
Having trouble reducing the vibrations on my turntable setup
I think minus K, vibraplane, and Herzan are kissing cousins, business-wise. If you don’t mind an ugly industrial look, herzan platforms with appropriate load capacity can sometimes be found on eBay. For much fewer $$$.
Having trouble reducing the vibrations on my turntable setup
MC, Nodes for vibration should not move around.  However, the number of them might go up or down depending upon frequency.

DO Nuclear subs and CAT machines use SRA isolation devices? I’ve been around a lot of electron microscopes, and they don’t.
Help - Phono stages dying!!
As the late great Roseanne Rosannadana said, “It’s always something.”
Help - Phono stages dying!!
Never let your speakers wash the dishes.  (Sorry, could not resist. It's a matter of syntax.)Seriously, it would help to know WHICH resistors are failing and whether in all 3 cases the failed resistors have a common function.  For example, is it t...
Having trouble reducing the vibrations on my turntable setup
Any shelf will vibrate at a certain frequency.  Depending upon that frequency, there will be regularly spaced nodes that remain stationary even while the shelf is energized and vibrating.  If you can locate those stationary nodes and place the poi...
General question on Carbon fiber tonearms versus aluminum
Thanks for mentioning the Yamamoto CF headshell.  I own two of them and also an Oyaide CF headshell, and guess what; I like them all very much.  Go figure.  Very neutral sounding, and they do not color the sound in the way I hear CF tonearms do.  ...
