Luxman LX33 Integrated Tube Amp. YEAH? NAY?
If you feel you must make this purchase, and I agree with Russ that it may not be a good idea, then you ought to buy a step down transformer dedicated only to this unit. A preamplifier/amplifier will draw more current than a turntable, and you wil...
Russian Tube Preamp, No Return, Here I go again
The seller already told you in explicit terms that the unit he is selling is not “flawless”. So you shouldn’t expect or demand flawless.
Russian Tube Preamp, No Return, Here I go again
Here is a useful website: https://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_6n4p.htmlFrom that page, you can also look up the 12AY7 and 6072.  To my eyes, the latter two should be cross-compatible with the 6N4P. (Be careful if you do your own research, becau...
Russian Tube Preamp, No Return, Here I go again
Somewhere much earlier in this thread, I got the impression that your preamp uses the 6N23, which is replaceable by the 6922. I don’t know about the 6N4P, without doing more research on it. Am I losing my mind, or did you once mention the 6N23? Ye...
Yamaha GT 2000 with 40 pound copper platter.
As I mentioned on this forum once before, if you visit the audiophile salons in Tokyo, the 2000 GT is one of the most common of the high end turntables that you will find for sale, in secondhand condition of course. Conversely, I have never seen a...
How many vinyl albums do you own you listen to?
It is interesting to learn from reading the other posts on this thread that most of us, or most of you, don’t own more than 1000 LPs. In my opinion, there really is a lot to be gained from having a large number of LPs. Because in that way you can ...
How many vinyl albums do you own you listen to?
~2500. Like MC, I am never going to count them, much less would I ever spend the time it would take to catalog them. They are in rough alphabetical order according to artist, stored in 3 locations in our house. I have enough LPs that I now forget ...
What is better, analog or digital?
The quality of the topics at the top of this forum is very low or very old hat right now. C’est la vie.
Russian Tube Preamp, No Return, Here I go again
https://www.head-fi.org/threads/6922-tube-review-17-top-6922-6n23p-e88cc-cca-7308-e188cc-tubes.76107...6N23 can be replaced by 6922 or any of its congeners, and they are all over the place.  I am not at all sure that tubes are the problem, but it ...
Russian Tube Preamp, No Return, Here I go again
Are you referring to 6N23 types?  Didn't we agree that the ubiquitous 6922 and its many congeners are substitutes for the 6N23, as per this website as well:https://www.head-fi.org/threads/6922-tube-review-17-top-6922-6n23p-e88cc-cca-7308-e188cc-tu...
Please help! My Fender quads reverb isn’t working
Have you tried turning it off, then turning it on again?
Russian Tube Preamp, No Return, Here I go again
With the chassis open to view, pick the unit up and give it a good shake. Do you see any parts moving around?  Turn it upside down; does anything hang down or fall out on the floor? I am sure the actual problem is minor and due to something having...
Turntable Oscilloscope Readings
I would assume the OP knows how to use his oscilloscope.  Also, as Mijostyn said, it doesn't really matter whether the scope is calibrated or not, if the OP took his readings at the same scope settings for each stereo channel, using the same pair ...
What is better, analog or digital?
One of those two for sure.
Turntable Oscilloscope Readings
Do you have a SPL meter? If you can confirm with a meter that the SPLs from each speaker are about the same, measured at about 1 meter and preferably using a pure test tone, then I wouldn’t trust the oscilloscope readings.Actually, that makes me a...
