Record collecting versus hoarding Define "big collection".
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT Talk to Paul Speltz at AntiCables. He’s an EE. I’ve measured C in a 22 foot run of my AntiCables IC vs another 22-ft of IC with a conventional shield. The AC cable capacitance was an order of magnitude or more lower.
Record collecting versus hoarding Soon you’ll fill your tent with LPs and you’ll have to move into a smaller satellite tent.
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”? I agree with Mijo that there can be no single “best” cartridge, for both objective and subjective reasons, and have said so. So too have many others. And yet this thread goes on,… and on.
another arm/cart question (long post) Check out the linestage gain. Add that number of db to 60db, and you might have enough overall gain. Also, the input sensitivity of your amplifier and then your speakers figure into the results.
Record collecting versus hoarding What’s wrong with living in a tent if it’s in your own back yard?
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT Just keep in mind that "well shielded" and "low capacitance" are antithetical qualities, which I am certain Dover knows. Some others might not. Which is why I mentioned the AntiCables approach to shielding that does not add much capacitance.
another arm/cart question (long post) I chose to purchase an ART7 (0.12mV output) rather than an ART9 (0.5mV output), on the premise that lower voltage output version of an LOMC is usually better than the higher output version. Also, the ART7 has the unique amorphous core coil (which ...
another arm/cart question (long post) I’m surprised no one has mentioned that the ART9 has been superseded by the 9Xi, for a bit more money.
Record collecting versus hoarding Of all these responses, I think only Jaret’s dad may be a true hoarder, in the pathological sense. Spent $24,000 on LPs over many years and has no turntable. The rest of us are fine.
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT AntiCables make excellent “interconnects” which are both shielded AND very low in capacitance, because the shield wire is wound around the signal carrying wires. Therefore the shield is perpendicular to the field generated. They also make “phono c...
Early SOTA vs New Something: Conundrum Mijo, On 9-26, you wrote, "So don't DD motors, it just takes them longer. The thrust bearing gets noisy and wow and flutter specs also deteriorate." To the casual reader this sentence implies that there is a special problem with the thrust bearin...
Does Everyone Use 2 Phono Cables with SUT Sorry. Do you mean to differentiate between an "interconnect" and a "phono cable"? If not, how on earth did you connect your SUT to your phono inputs before now? To avoid using two ICs (or phono cables) in the SUT circuit, one option is to have ...
Record collecting versus hoarding big greg, You cannot be a real hoarder if you admit to being a hoarder. This is a variation on Groucho's famous statement that he would not join any club that would have him as a member. Knowing you are a hoarder and admitting it demonstrates so...
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”? Goofy, good idea. My past efforts to do the same were not successful. But I think the actual subject of the OP would prove equally vexing. |
