Turntables: 2 Tonearms. What do you Have or Know About?
I prefer placing the cover in storage.
Turntables: 2 Tonearms. What do you Have or Know About?
Re a hinged dust cover: they can be “lifted off”, which is the first thing I did with the covers for the TT101 and Denon DP80. The hinges come apart via a spade/slot joint. You can use the cover either way or not at all. The TT801 has a greater r...
Modwright PH 9.0X Tube Rolling Question
Just a pedantic note, 7DJ8 is not equivalent to all those other tubes.  7DJ8 requires a 7V filament supply.  You probably could get away with an actual 6.3V, since most tubes allow a 10% error, but no less than 6.3V for best results.
Turntables: 2 Tonearms. What do you Have or Know About?
Elliot, You're skating on thin ice.  The TT101 is a fine turntable.  I have been using mine for several years since JP Jones repaired its problem, with no issues whatsoever.  The difference between a TT101 and a TT81 is nowhere near like the diffe...
CSPort Turntable speed control
So I gather there is no servo or feedback mechanism that attempts to continuously correct speed. Yes?

The question arose whether JVC and Denon plinths are cross-compatible. No, they are not. But might be made to work with some modifications to the plinth.
Linn LP12 & Miyajima Madake or ?
Re the Miyajima.  These tend to be very low compliance.  Thus they would perform best in tonearms with high effective mass.  I don't know if the Linn Ekos is in that class, probably not, but you can make up for mass by using a heavier then standar...
I NEED A 16 INCH CORK TURNTABLE MAT
Senor Wences, with a curl over the "N".  Not "senior".  Was having a senior moment.
I NEED A 16 INCH CORK TURNTABLE MAT
Reading Mijostyn’s instructions, I am reminded of Senior Wences from the old Ed Sullivan show: “Easy for you. Difficult for me.”
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation"
Can you describe exactly how you did these experiments? As noted, I am only concerned about very short term exposure to 22% Ethanol vs 25% IPA.  I certainly don't expect you to repeat your work to appease me, but it would help to better understan...
Help! Monolith turntable platter removal
Wedge the platter upward to the end of its travel and then gently tap the spindle with a hard cover book or a tack hammer. Operative word is “gently”. Some platters do bear threaded holes which facilitate their removal.
Vinyl static ionizers who's used them?
(1) Who said anything about the Destat? (2) I don’t own a Destat, used the plain old Zerostat in my experiment described above, but Benjie’s post is in disagreement with your claim (Benjie is here replying to someone else, but his post does contr...
Vinyl static ionizers who's used them?
I procrastinated on the Acaia, but I did buy an FMX003 static charge meter sold on eBay for $175. First experiment was to rip an LP out of its sleeve as rapidly as possible. Charge on the LP surface read -11kV. I then zapped the LP with my 50 year...
Phantom Supreme to 4Point-14?
Nah. She’s oblivious to the big speakers, maybe because we’ve been married 45 years and I’ve had speakers of similar size, if not even bigger and more ugly (two pairs of KLH 9s) since before we met.
Why No Power Button on Some Phono Stages?
Spike, The VP130 is a simple tube phono stage. Most tube units in fact ought to be powered down when not in use. I don’t think there is any argument on that. For some tube units with solid state rectification, it is possible to leave the power sup...
