Curious Why Benz Micro Slid Into Obscurity
It’s impossible to help with your question about using a SUT with a Benz Glider, because there are so many versions of the Glider. Can you be more specific? What is the voltage output and what is the internal resistance or impedance? The original ...
Need some help picking my first MC Cartridge
I think the OP ought to limit his choices to true low internal resistance LOMCs, if he’s going to use the built in SUT in the Icon phono, which seems like a very nice unit, now that I’ve read more about it. Thus a Denon DL103 or any of several Ben...
Looking for a Warmer Sounding Phono Cartridge
"stylus kept skipping across the LP..." This suggests the tonearm is hanging up on something external, like the cueing device (if you have altered VTA in connection with changing cartridges, there is a chance the tonearm is fouling the lift on th...
Need some help picking my first MC Cartridge
Just keep in mind that the Nagaoka MP series of cartridges are Moving Iron types, not MM. While you are at the task of selecting a new MC type, maybe consider also upgrading from MP300 to MP500.

It's just that I have never found alignment to make such a quantitative difference in apparent frequency response. But this is very subjective, I suspect.
New Technics SL-1200GR2
It would behoove some of you to do some research on Technics history. They’ve made some state of the art TT s since the 1970s, like the SP10, the SP10 mk2 and 2A, and the TOTL SP10mk3 (only lately superseded by the SP10R), along with the venerable...
What Cartridge Manufacturers Will Retip Their Moving Coil Cartridges For A Fee?
Rdk, yes, but, as previously mentioned, SS make MI cartridges. The operating principle is different from that of MCs, making rebuild a much simpler exercise. That’s a real virtue but not what the OP asked.
Looking for a Warmer Sounding Phono Cartridge
Most MC cartridges exhibit electro-mechanical resonance at very high frequencies, well above the range of human hearing, depending upon load and etc.  But many do exhibit a slight 1-2db rise in FR at the very top of the audio spectrum.  Anyway, it...
Looking for a Warmer Sounding Phono Cartridge
Any of the classic MM cartridges will be high compliance.  I have a Grace Ruby with an SS OCL stylus on the correct sapphire cantilever.  It's a marvelous cartridge.  But I am not aware that the required degree of alignment accuracy for a happy ou...

Kavemaher, have you been to an ENT specialist or an audiologist? Could it be that you have tinnitus?
what kind of grease do I use for my SOTA Sapphire bearing?
No problem. It did seem to me that I used to talk to Donna in CA, when once I owned a Star Sapphire III.
Best Full-Function Preamplifier
I seriously disagree with those who suggest one is best off with separate phono and linestages.  (And by the way, the term "preamplifier" historically assumed a linestage and phono stage on one chassis.)  Here are the advantages of an all in one u...
what kind of grease do I use for my SOTA Sapphire bearing?
Thanks for correcting me. Years ago, I think they were in CA. In any case, they are very good people who would guide the OP in the right direction.
what kind of grease do I use for my SOTA Sapphire bearing?
SOTA the company is just a phone call away, in CA.
MM Phono Stages With Greater Than 40 dB of Gain?
Mulveling, it’s a simple matter to change the load resistance of an MM phono stage. I use 100K ohms in all of mine. Anything higher in value than 100K must be for the case where you want to use a SUT with a high turns ratio (>1:10) and the cart...
