Exactly.  Jobim said it best in the English lyrics to Desafinado.
Matching the cartridge to the phono stage
To be fair, don't you think that a load resistance switch is sometimes a response to the marketplace which tends to place a high value on fiddling with load resistance, because most audiophiles, who are also potential buyers, do not understand the...

Have vocalists and instrumentalists also learned to record in phase with each other.? My point is if one prefers one phase vs it’s opposite it’s possibly because one is focusing on one aspect of the performance, eg, the vocalist in an ensemble. T...

Define "pinched".

Explain to me why the phase switch ought to be in the digital domain, as opposed to the analog domain in a fully balanced analog circuit, where ground floats. That's assuming of course that one only wants to be able to change phase by 180 degrees....
Bought A Vintage Kiseki This Weekend
If there’s a new baby cartridge, doesn’t that mean someone got f**ked?

My guess is that the high gain inputs feed a SUT with a choice of two levels of voltage gain. That would account for the two different load resistance parameters at the two different levels of gain. You can’t fix that unless you change the 47K ohm...

antigrunge, I hope you and anyone else will get the point that I don’t claim phase makes no difference. Please pay attention to the double negative in that last sentence. I do claim that (1) I, and everyone else who has been subjected to double bl...

I too hope you enjoy the Shure, despite my pessimistic comment.  Pay no attention to Jason, who even got the inductance of the Shure wrong.  He stated it's 400 microhenries when in fact it's 1000X higher than that, at 400 millihenries (actually, S...

The question is what is "absolute phase" in reproduced music where the music itself has been recorded using several different microphones, set up usually without regard to their relative phases, and is then played back through speakers with crosso...

Don’t keep us in suspense. What is the Wood Effect, and what does it say on this subject? I just spent 5 minutes reading about the Wood Effect. This was on another audiophile website in an exchange that took place in 2008. Seemed like the guy who...

roxy, In your first post, I think you are thinking of the situation where one channel is 180 degrees out of phase with the other channel, in a stereo system. Yes, that causes very obvious problems, and needs to be corrected so that the two speaker...

I don't get why you would ask AFTER having made the purchase.  You will be the first to know whether you made a good move, once you have auditioned the cartridge.  Like "secretguy" said, I too never thought the V15 series were  much better than OK...

Results Depend upon the type of speaker (unidirectional vs dipole vs bipole and line source vs point source), the room, and listener bias. But no, it’s not as simple as your proposal suggests. With my dipolar ESLs, I hear no effect at all of chang...
Review: Pure Fidelity Harmony Turntable
+1 for roxy.  I was thinking the same thoughts but did not want to offend the Linn faithful.  Not only does the PF get the nod for its looks, but also for its engineering.  The Delrin platter is to be desired because its hardness mimics that of a ...
