used b&w 703's vs. demo 804S's HELP
well...you are asking at a 2-channel forum...so my take is no, you won't. Save that money and spend it on better amp for the L&R. Surprise!!
Dac suitible for both bookshelf and floorstanding
Mac,I'm not trying to be difficult, but I don't think I truly understand your question: why are you asking for a DAC to match speakers? Your passive speakers are ran from the amp, so the speakers and amp need to be a good match - not the DAC-speak...
used b&w 703's vs. demo 804S's HELP
Congrats Baranowski! I do love my 804S, but didn't want to appear pushy. With all due respect, I disagree with Shakedown. Rotels go very well with some B&W, but to my ears not with 804S. You can dig my posts from the past here where I went into...
B&W 804 diamond or previous 803D?
I also agree, and wanted to ask about your room size? If too small, maybe consider the 804D. Otherwise go for the 803D for sure. You will want a larger amp with it too.
used b&w 703's vs. demo 804S's HELP
I agree with Shakedown, and would also want you to think about accompanying electronics. Better speakers are likely to push you to better electronics too...so you'll end up spending more there too.My experience: I had B&W CM4 with Rotel RB1080...
Hertz 60 to 50 Question ??
My electronics were purchased in the US, so 110V/60Hz. Then I moved to a 220V/50Hz country. Heating up? I don't know...nothing so significant that I would notice, that's for sure. Right now my tube amp and pre do heat up, of course. But is that mo...
Hertz 60 to 50 Question ??
I have used (and still use) in 50 Hz a ss amp, ss preamp, cd player, tube amp and tube preamp designed for 60Hz and never had an issue. Don't know if a tube tester would be any different, but for me it was a non issue.
One sub or two?
I actually have a Rel Storm III working together with my B&W 804S, in a 3700 cu ft room. I like it with the Rel a lot better than without, BUT I'm looking at getting rid of the Storm and bringing in 2 subs + Anti-Mode 8033. Rel sounds nice but...
Driver recommendation for hi-fi DIY sub?
Spinaker,Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought about JL driver for "car audio". Looks good. Have you had experience with it?
Gold Lion KT88's Upgrade
I think you can dig more info than you care to read about this on McIntosh forum at audiokarma. GL are said to work well with Mc, and my recollection is Black Treasures are generally considered better for Mc (I say generally because not 100% of pe...
Squeezebox Touch simple 24/192 output mod
Kenny,You might have seen this already, but in case you haven't. You might find it useful: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=98511.0I found it interesting.
What to replace a Rotel RCD 971 with
FWIW, I own a Rotel RCD-1082, which is well regarded and plays HDCD. For the last year I've had a Squeezebox Touch, and even HDCDs copied to lossless FLAC with dbpoweramp and played through stock Squeezebox sound as well as with the Rotel. Of cour...
Owners of McIntosh MA 2275: need help with tubes
As implied in the above responses, replacing the small tubes will have a larger impact than replacing the KT88. You can go to audiokharma McIntosh forum and read about this till you get exhausted. Above recommendations are good, though.
Purist Audio Design Musaeus Speaker Cable Bi-Wire
go to www.thecableco.com and look it up. You will get a US price, though. Alternatively, e-mail Purist Audio and ask for a retailer in Thailand. BTW, I'm considering these same speaker cables.
Need info on amp rec. for these Thiel cs2.4's
How about an older Rowland?
