B&W 804s too bright
suggestion: get your amp first, then cables. That's assuming you are talking speaker cables or IC between pre and amp.my two cents.
B&W 804s too bright
I agree with Elee. To further comment on my above post, I used to have Rotel CD, preamp and RB1080 amp with B&W CM4. I upgraded to 804S and it became bright and painful. I replaced the amp for a MC275 and it was great. So here's an example of ...
B&W 804s too bright
I have 804S with McIntosh MC275 tubes and love it. You don't want tubes. At the time I auditioned McIntosh MC252 (ss) which was very good too. Try and audition. Classe was good too, but I myself preferred the McIntosh SS sound to Classe with the 8...
USB DAC/Preamp Suggestions $1k to $2k
Burson Audio. Not sure about remote and analog inputs, though. Neither do some of the others proposed...
metrum octave dac or cary or wyred4sound and more
Since nobody is replying, I'll help with what I can:1. You should consider a USB to SPDIF converter between your laptop and DAC, such as Audiophileo.2. The Octave will play hi-rez natively up to 24/176, so 24/192 files would need to be played at 2...
Need advice for B&W 804 diamond amplification
I don't have 804D, but 804S. When I upgraded the speakers I had a Rotel RB1080 amp, which worked great with lesser B&W, but wasn't on par with the 804S. I auditioned some amps, narrrowed down to Classe and McIntosh, preferred Mc, and ended up ...
Sophia 1 with McIntosh/Lamm tubes? Please advise
I also believe in listening as the best way to decide what's best. I really do. In fact, while I lived in the US this is how I went about choosing equipment. However, now I live in South America, where auditioning these is impossible. Yet in a coup...
Looking for a DAC for the Squeezebox Touch
Earlxtr,Please tell us more about the way you used the Audio DG: Was it SB Touch > coax > Audio DG > coax > Metrum? Thanks!
amp for b&w 804 "s" with htm4 "s" 200 watts....
Any way you can audition any of these combinations? Many dealers carry B&W and Mc and Rotel.I had B&W CM4 with Rotel RB1080 and liked them, then upgraded to 804S and hated it (100% music, though), then moved to Mc tubes. The 804S are too r...
Sophia 1 with McIntosh/Lamm tubes? Please advise
Missioncoonery: I looked at your past responses to get a better perspective of where you are coming from. I see you like tubes - saw a "Jadis user since '95" somewhere. Maybe it's the McIntosh you don't like. Which amps do you like with the Sophia...
Sophia 1 with McIntosh/Lamm tubes? Please advise
Lloydelee21,Thanks for the kind words! I do indeed enjoy my system.I don't really have an itch to spend $6k. What's happening is I live overseas and someone is being relocated back from the US so I have a chance to bring home some heavy stuff, lik...
Best DAC under 2k US ?
Calling Ray Charles
Wyred DAC1 or DAC2
Try the search function and you'll get a fair amount of info, likely.FWIW, some data: - DAC-1 cannot do 24/192 but can be ordered with the asyc. 24/192 for an additional $250.- With the upgraded board installed the DAC2 would still have the advant...
Logitech Squeezebox album art issue
Like Mapman, I rip to wav (but using dBpoweramp), and add missing art just like he does. Cumbersome if you need to do 200 CDs the first time, but a non-issue after that.
CD upgrade.
Hello James.Ayon makes tubed equipment that has many talking about. Their CD players are said to be fantastic. Also their DAC, which also has a fantastic volume stage. Actually, some or their CD players also have this feature.Esoteric X03SE would ...
