Define power hungry...B&W speakers I'll throw in my experience. I used to have B&W CM4 driven by Rotel RB1080. I liked it a lot. Eventually I moved to the 804S, and those speakers started revealing the weaknesses in the Rotel amp. I auditioned some amps and liked McIntosh SS wi...
where to go from a hp mini 210 netbook Glad it helped.I started with computer audio about 3 years ago. I'm not a computer guy, and I took a step by step approach to see what it was all about. Eventually I found myself only listening to the computer and decided to dispose of the other s...
where to go from a hp mini 210 netbook Hello. Not sure if I'm understanding your question as you intended, but I'll take a shot.I never used a Mood D300, but from the net I see it has asynch USB. Good starting point! So you want to record from YouTube? I doubt that will provide good sou...
192 from usb/spdif to NOS dac to amp I have a Metrum Octave DAC, which is a NOS unit. While the Octaves are not guaranteed to work with 24/192 (I believe 1:100 do), I'm from the lucky few and it does work with 24/192.I use an Audiophilleo that can work with 24/192 as well. So my 24/1...
PC audio newbie looking for advice Ripping CDs only makes things simpler than digitizing vinyl. A computer plus a asynch USB DAC is all you need. However, not all such combinations are made equal.I've been amazed with the improvement in sound I had by moving to Windows Server 2012 ...

DAC improvements slowing down? I think along the lines of what Mapman said, given my limited experience. My music coming from a PC, when I moved from a previous configuration to having an Audiophilleo in the chain there was a very noticeable improvement. I recently tried an exa...
android phone He asked about AES or XLR, though.for USB out of my Samsung S4 I use an app called USB Audio Player Pro and into an iFi Nano iDSD, which works well while travelling.
The Latest in Digital Out for Mobile Devices? I use an app called USB Audio Player Pro to stream from my Samsung S4 to an iFi Nano iDSD thru USB and in-ear phones for when I'm travelling. Works great from a 64GB SD card.

PC audio newbie looking for advice I'm 100% computer based these days and can't comment on the ADC itself. However, in my DAC search I came across the Lynx Hilo, which also has ADC. Lynx is a pro gear company. The Hilo has good user reviews, and professional reviews. I believe ther...
Is DEQX a game changer? 12-04-14: BifwynneSo far, I think the biggest bang for the buck lies with room EQ. That is what has the greatest impact on imaging and soundstage and tonal presentation. I concede that time alignment makes for purer, more "honest" tonal reproducti...
Advice for a usb dac Along the lines of Mesch's question too. I suggest you look into iFi Nano DSD. Has the added benefit of driving headphones so can be used on the go. I use it in that fashion. |
