Preamp for mc275le. Need advice, please Godunovs,We've been on a similar path! I used to have a Rotel pre and a Rotel RB1080. I upgraded my speakers and they were revealing enough to show the weaknesses in the 1080 I had not noticed until then. I bought a MC275, and was thrilled. I drov...
USB printer cable VS USB audiophile grade cable? While I haven't tried different audio grade USB cables, their impact on sound is well documented by users on other fora. exaSound might be the exception and their DACs indeed neutralize what is going on upstream - be it at the computer or the cabl...
A nice PC upgrade Thanks Al. Very pointed, clear and helpful explanation. As usual!
which of these 2 subs? And I will second Martykl's suggestion to look at measurements at HTShack forum. This guy Ikka (if I recall his ID) measured many many subs with an open mind, in a repeatable way, and found interesting results.
Best subs for music under 1000$ Absolute statements like Jafant's above just aren't helpful to people with honest questions. That statement is simply not true. This coming from a guy who had a Rel sub and loved it, but likes Rythmiks better in his system. Rels are great; just po...
A nice PC upgrade Zd,I have not tried it myself, but several people at other fora tried it time ago and it is a sort of an accepted fact they do sound different, with the SATA sounding "better" because it doesn't introduce additional jitter on the USB bus. This is ...
Best subs for music under 1000$ Look into Rythmik. I replaced on Rel Storm IIi with two Rythmiks and am very pleased.
which of these 2 subs? FWIW, I replaced a Rel Storm III I had for 3 years (so got to know it well) with two Rythmik 12" and haven't looked back. The Rel is good, but two Rythmiks cost less than one Rel and easily best it.
Desktop speakers for mixing AND music? Karavite,Out of curiosity, what makes for a good speaker for listening but not for mixing? I never mixed so I'm lost with my admitedly basic thinking of "both need to reproduce as acourately as posible, right?"
1 large subwoofer or 2 smaller ones...? I used to have one REL Storm III, and now have two DIY boxes with Rythmik 12" kits. So my two subs cost the same as my previous larger one, but the two subs aren't smaller than the one. Rest of system is the same. I would agree 100% with the 2-sub...
Desktop speakers for mixing AND music? If you are going active, listen to Audioengine A2+ and A5+. I have A2 connected to a Squeezebox Touch and for the money it is a very good setup. They are carried at Best Buy's Magnolia store, I think (don't live in the US and recall seeing them th...
Is DEQX a game changer? Drewan77,How are you using your DEQX? Is it between a stereo preamp and the amps? If so, have you compared the current setup to receiving the digital stream directly into the DEQX and using it as XO/DAC/volume control?
Is DEQX a game changer? Not really dissenting, but just want to make the point DEQX is not the only option. I think what is to me a game changer is DSP, and the ability to room-correct plus time-align the drivers. This is my opinion and I still need to try it for myself....
Is DEQX a game changer? Drewan77,I'm utterly interested. What you did is very, very close to what I intend to do: first room-correct with my existing system in 2 channels for L/R plus 2 channels for subs, then get more amps and use 6 channels for bass/mids/treble on L &a...
Lewinskih01... Zoot 45 Exactly. I'm talking about jitter too. Not sure I'm following 100%, though, or that I am making myself clear enough. The point I'm trying to make is that if you have an asynch USB DAC connected to the computer, adding a USB HDD to the same computer... |
