Proceed PAV as a two channel preamp..
I've owned and used the Proceed AVP for the last 8 years. While I upgraded every other component of my system (some a few times), the beautiful rendering of music by the Proceed's DAC not only made me keep it, but I bought a second one for back up...
Amplifier Choices for Low Side of Biamped Speakers
Thank you Lcherepkai . . . I will check out all your suggestions.
Amplifier Choices for Low Side of Biamped Speakers
Pdspecl, Thanks for your input. I am hoping for something around 500 wpc, minimum 300 wpc, and digital. After posting this thread I found Class D Audio (http://classdaudio.com/audio-amplifiers.html). They seem to make quality stuff, powerful, good...
Biamping with Jolida/McCormack/Proceed
I thought I'd update this thread now that a few years have gone by and I've had a bit more experience biamping. I still have Legacy speakers and still use a Proceed AVP as my preamp and DAC. However, I have changed amps several times. I write this...
Audiometallurgy Ag-0 as a Subwoofer Cable?
Listener 57, Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely check out Lovett's album (I'll have to pass on the Wilson piece, too expensive for my budget).Regarding silver in other cables, I've seen it in several, including Signal's Silver Resolution....
Audiometallurgy Ag-0 as a Subwoofer Cable?
Listerner57 - My total cost was $96 plus $12 shipping, the same price I won the auction for and normal shipping cost. Audiometallurgy was happy to accommodate my request since it actually saved them a pair of connectors.Regarding designing a subwo...
subwoofer IC's, silver or no silver content
After experimenting quite a bit, I am convinced that silver, whether in the IC or the speaker cable, can help. The two things I have consistently noticed is 1) improved bass speed, and 2) improved musicality. Of course, including silver alone in a...
Creative Cabling for Bass Quality
Hi Undertow,I would say if you are going to define tone as you have, I can't disagree. But it seems you are also saying there is no objective standard by which to judge sound (e.g. "Who is to say that it is now because of this mix the correct soun...
Creative Cabling for Bass Quality
". . . . is if you were not using a Cable as a tone control to an extent than what in the world would you be spending so much money on cables in the first place if you did not expect them to change the sound to your liking!"Hi Undertow,I can't ans...
Creative Cabling for Bass Quality
Hi 2chnlben,Yes, you have to double up at the amp too. I just realized that people already biwiring might have a space problem (at the amp) if they are using two cables instead of a single one prepared for biwiring. (Since I BIAMP I therefore have...
Creative Cabling for Bass Quality
Palerider,I think you either forgot to read my opening post or, since this thread features a three-part idea, maybe I didn't explain it clearly. The first part of the idea is, in a biwired or biamped situation, to use the bass side of your biwirab...
Creative Cabling for Bass Quality
Hi 2chnlben, You might have missed in my post that I did attempt that. After trying the Silver Resolutions, I switched them out for pure 12g silver cables. I got a little more bass weight, but I lost every bit of the definition I'd obtained from t...
Creative Cabling for Bass Quality
Hi Doug,Thanks for the complements. I might add one thing to your points. I think that in addition to gauge size, cable materials are important. I know what you mean however, because like you I remember about 30 years ago using lamp wiring for my ...
Legacy Classics and bottom end?
I saw this old thread and thought I'd contribute something I have learned about the Classics' bass. Like the author of this tread, I thought my 1998 Classics were a bit bloated. After tightening the loose screws on the woofers, it helped, but not ...
Modern day female jazz recommendations
Wow, what a great thread, female jazz singers are my obsession, to the point it even makes my wife jealous. Already well-recognized here is who I think is the greatest living female jazz artist, Casandra Wilson. My only complaint is it seems her r...
