Rega P3-24, Pro-Ject RM-5, or Technics 1200? Tvad, that is an excellent question. Adam18 has basically answered it for me, as well, thanks. I have heard that if you want to try a different cartridge on a Rega, you have to buy their spacers to do so, as Rega's cartridges are not quite the sta...
Rega P3-24, Pro-Ject RM-5, or Technics 1200? Hi guys - I thought I made it clear that I had not heard a modified Technics, and that therefore my comments only applied to the unmodified one, which I have heard. I take your word for it that the modifications improve it, but I stand by what I s...
Rega P3-24, Pro-Ject RM-5, or Technics 1200? Tvad, I used to have a Technics that was a stock model. I have always considered Technics to be very much mid-fi, I am a little puzzled about the great numbers of people who seem to like it here and on that other audio forum. I have not heard it w...
Into 2009; What rules?? Tubes or Solid State I would certainly vote for tubes - better imaging, more accurate instrumental timbres, better realization of the sound of the human voice, to name just three good reasons.
Rega P3-24, Pro-Ject RM-5, or Technics 1200? I would say a P2 easily beats the RM-5. I haven't actually heard the new P3-24, but I have heard the P2 and the RM-5. I would also say it beats the Technics easily. I think that the Regas have a much bigger soundstage, and image quite a bit better...
Which TT the Pro-Ject RM-5 SE or Rega P3-24? Well, as far as sources go, everything I have bought on audiogon has arrived in fantastic condition, though admittedly I haven't bought much here yet. I have apparently had much better luck on ebay than many posters here seem to have, I have almos...
Which TT the Pro-Ject RM-5 SE or Rega P3-24? Agree that Rega actually does not offer much upgrades compared to most other turntable manufacturers, their business model is quite the opposite. As far as analog vs. digital, this has been much debated in other threads. Not to get into it here, b...
Which TT the Pro-Ject RM-5 SE or Rega P3-24? I would disagree that it is harder to collect vinyl. There is plenty of great vinyl out there to be had - I have easily almost tripled my collection in the last six months, spending far less than I would have paid for the equivalent amount on CD. ...
Grado Reference Sonata on a Rega P5 ? You should also try the Exact 2 - that's what I have on mine, though I have heard the Dynavector is great on it as well.
Denon 110 on Rega P5: nice What types of music are you mostly listening to? What other cartridges have you tried? I ask just for curiosity, I'm not implying any criticism or disagreement. I have an Exact 2 on my P5.
Music Hall CD-25.2 VS Rega Apollo VS Rotel 1072??? I'll put in a vote for the Rega Apollo - I really like the sound of mine - I haven't ever heard a player I liked better.
Yay or Nay As I understand it, and hear it, for that matter, the Rega CD players are designed to sound warmer, and more analog-like, than other CD players out there, and this is what gives it it's distinctive sound. I bought an Apollo myself for this reason....
VTL2.5 or PrimaLuna2: wich is better as preamp? I like my PrimaLuna Dialogue 2 quite a bit, but I have not heard the VTL stuff, so I can't help you with a comparison.
Triode or Ultralinear I would agree with both Tvad and Atmasphere. I have the Dialogue Two, and have been having alot of fun exploring the difference between the two modes. The more I listen, the more things I personally prefer in the triode mode, especially vocals, ch...
MoFi enzyme based cleaner and pure rinse I would highly recommend the AIVS fluids, I have had excellent results with them. Also, you might try leaving the enzymatic fluid on for a longer period of time, sometimes this makes a big difference. |
