Best cartridge for Rega RB- 250? Third the Rega Exact 2.
Floorstanders designed to be against the wall? Agree with the Klipsch Cornwall suggestion, I use them myself. If you want something even bigger or in the corners, then try the Klipschorn. The Belles or La Scalas would be in-between.
Best horn speaker under $1000 for Jadis I bought my Klipsch Cornwalls here on this site for only $600, and they are often seen under $1000. I would very highly recommend them, you can find out all about them on the Klipsch website.
Rega TT Dust Cover Vibration I personally have never had that problem with my P5 as long as the turntable is actually level - you might check that, it could be something that simple.
Audio Racks & Equipment Support I would highly recommend the Sanus Natural Foundations stuff. Looks good, easy to put together, open shelving, easy access to cables, etc., and definitely within your budget.
?TT upgrade from most basic to next step-up / tube If you don't want to spend too much more money, I would recommend the Rega line. Even a P2 would be a step up from your Music Hall 2.1 (and yes, I have directly compared both). Better soundstaging and imaging, which if you like classical music and...
Audio/TV rack recommendations? I would look into the Sanus products - I have their six-shelf audio rack, and their 3 shelf TV stand (in the Natural Foundation line). Looks great, easy to assemble, is absolutely level, and no vibration problems. Also, it is quite a bit less expe...
Tube amp recommendation Hi DennyC - I would highly recommend the PrimaLuna Dialogue 2 integrated. It is auto-biasing, and can take many different kinds of tubes, so you can tube roll to your heart's content if you want without having to worry about biasing. The amp is ve...
Vinyl in Dallas It depends on what you are looking for. If for rock or jazz or folk or country, Forever Young is great, and definitely worth the trip from Dallas. However, you will not find one single classical LP in the store. For that, you have to look elsewher...
Vinyl sounds a bit thin and slightly strident. The VPI stuff can be pretty bright, you might try a British table such as Rega or Nottingham. Nottinghams in particular are quite dark.
Wall Hugging w/Imaging & Depth? Klipschorns are designed to go into room corners, if you want to place them there.
Rega TT-PSU or new phono stage ? Hi Adam - definitely go for the TT-PSU. However, if you just have to try another phonostage, I can highly recommend the Bellari VP129 that matches very nicely with my P5/Exact 2 combo. You can find them used here for under $200. I would say this i...
Do I need a record cleaning machine I don't clean brand new vinyl, but after a record has been played once, then yes, I will clean it before each subsequent playing. It makes a HUGE difference. As someone else mentioned earlier, the AIVS fluids are excellent. You also don't have to ...
Does power conditioning really matter? I would have to disagree with most of the above posts. I use a Monster unit for surge protection, and it has no detrimental effect on the sound of my system. Very recently I tried a PS Audio Quintet, and was extremely disappointed. There was a ver...
PS Audio Power Plant or Power Plant Premier Haven't tried the big power plants, but FWIW, in my system the PS Audio Quintet only improved the digital very slightly, and was very detrimental to analog playback. Perhaps the power plants are different, but I would not recommend the Quintet. |
