Getting him in my ARC PH3se phono pre
I did a bit of research in the RAM tubes and ordered the set. Yes the PH3se is a great phono and a keeper for me. I don’t know what it’s equal is today but it does sound great.
Getting him in my ARC PH3se phono pre
I found some 8 foot rca’s and pulled the TT to the middle of the room. The hum was the same.
Getting him in my ARC PH3se phono pre
I can run all the electronics through a 1000w isolation transformer and I can lift the ground to the transformer and I still get the hum with no noticeable hum reduction.  I thought isolation transformers were supposed to eliminate ground issues. ...
Getting him in my ARC PH3se phono pre
The turntable is two feet away from the other gear. I don’t know if this means anything but on the opposite side of the wall the TT is located is the kitchen, and more specifically the oven/range. It’s a gas range but modern so all electronically ...

I have done the ground wires to no avail. In fact I have run a ground wire from all the components and tried all kinds of combos. Nothing changes the hum.i have a Hum X cheater plug and that did nothing either.

Ok. I tried all Components from the same outlet to no avail. Still got the hum. However i think I’ve determined it’s tied to the cartridge - I think. It’s a brand new Grado Sonata 3 - Timbre series. Couple things - I know Grado’s are known for the...
Sub Sonics and woofer pumping
I changed out my counter wt from 140 gr to 180 and I added a head shell wt, can’t remember the weight but it was about the size of a dime and about as thick as a nickel. No change to the woofer pumping. I do have the Soundsmith weights, but they a...
Sub Sonics and woofer pumping
Yeah. Maybe. The thing is sound isn’t up loud enough to cause vibration In the turntable. Are you saying the operation of the TT is causing the pumping?

$1000 bookshelf speakers with "recessed", "laid back" or "flat" mid-range?
I own the Canton 9.2’s. Very musical and just a bit on the warm side with crazy bass for their size. Image very well and sound very natural.you can still get them NOS for $1400, but they were original $4000 10 years ago.
Cartridge for Technics SL-1200/1210GR

Pioneer Direct Drives - Now and then?
I have the Pioneer PL530it was my first turntable.  Sort of. Interesting how I came to own it.  After looking for TT’s in thrift stores for something that looked of decent quality, and not finding anything, and not knowing much about TT’s at the t...
Output test on amp
I have a 30 year old ARC CL 60 that appears to be a few decibels down in the higher frequencies in the right channel.  But it’s subtle; so I’m not 100% sure. I have eliminated all of he other variables including,  it not limited to, cables, tubes,...
