Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
Thanks for all the input, here are some of the responses to some of the questions:The platter is dead level I’ve checked it out digitally and with a old fashion bubble level I’m pretty sure it’s not the phono preamp, I tried a Dynavector mkiii pho...
Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
I thought the same about antiskate.  I tried hi, low and off, nothing changed it. But I am using the same alignment and it is unique to the AS Smartactor.  It’s for better inner groove resolution. I will try a more standard alignment and see what ...

Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
Tom, Thanks for your input, while the pioneer is a traditional gimbal arm the VPI is pivot.  As you probably know there are no bearings per se, to be sure I checked the pivot point and the cup, both are free of debris or burring.  I also have the ...

Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
Well it’s not the music making the woofers pump since the pumping happens in the quiet passages as well.
Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
The issue with ditching the mat is static electric.
Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
I meant ALL my TT’s do it with ALL carts - exactly the same. What are the chances of duplicating the issue between to different TT’s and different carts. Also the carts compliance works with the arms, so there is no mismatch to be concerned here.W...
Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
I moved both TT’s - all over the place.  Not change at all and that’s spiked through to the concrete floor. Miller,I can’t discount your thoughts about the clamp, but how would this affect the outer edge of the record where there is no clamp. I us...
Getting him in my ARC PH3se phono pre
The directly above post should have gone to my other post. Please disregard
Tweaking the new Grado Timbre Sonata 3
Accidentally posted this in my Hum thread but it should have been posted here:Ok. Update. It’s not the TT, cart, stand, motor, and it’s not the phono preamp (since I changed phono pre and it still did it).i just hooked up a different TT with a dif...

What the heck did I do
Jjssi can’t tell if your being serious or not.
What the heck did I do
All is good. It just started working again. I have no idea why. To answer some quesrions i’ve been trying to figure out why I’ve been having woofer pumping (Subsonic stuff) with cartridges that should work with the arm. I’ve checked the platter, i...
Sub Sonics and woofer pumping
Ok. So it’s got something to do with the cart and the tone arm. Which is weird since VPI suggests the cart. I have a record that has a bump in the vinyl, the pumping corresponds with the bump.  Weirdly the right channel is pumping more than the re...
