Bit the Dollar and bought headphones.
@smatsui - great set of headphone gear you've got! I've got Susvara, Utopia, VO, and LCD-5, though I've got the VO's up for sale - great headphones but just didn't click with me and I don't want to deal with pad rolling. I also use an Auris Nirva...
How much “suspension of disbelief do you need?”
No such thing as an 'exact representation' anyway. From what vantage point? The sound will be different for every one.... 2 feet from the performer will not sound like 15 feet from the performer. Orchestra level will not sound like the balcony. Go...
Is Rap a valid musical form?
@holmz - Heya! No, I've got some speakers and headphones up for sale, but not any TT....

I'd also recommend the Quicksilver if you're looking for a tube headphone amp at a great price - I think it's just about $1000, and sounds like it should cost a lot more than that - hand-built in the US, too. Upgrade tubes for it are relatively in...
Is Rap a valid musical form?
@holmz - I was just listening to The Streets a couple of nights ago - his first album, 'Original Pirate Material' is also excellent.... I got to see him perform here in San Francisco about 10 years ago or so...
Is Rap a valid musical form?
@denverfred - heya! just wondering what does being able to read music, a vocalist's ability to play an instrument, etc have to do with anything? Plenty of great 'musicians' just bore the crap out of me because they're more concerned with showing o...
NFL Playoffs Starts - What are u listening to?
I'm not interested in drowning out the announcers - they know more than I do, and I like to know what's going on, and most are quite enjoyable for me. But before the game, I put on some good pounding metal to put me in the mood - Manowar is genera...
I believe I experienced great PRAT for the first time
@mijostyn + 1 - Great point; I've never understood it when somebody says a great system will get their foot tapping. Their foot wouldn't tap to the music on a lesser system? Hell, when I was a teenager, never took more than a handheld 1960's trans...
Fritz Carrera BE vs. Harbeth 30.1
@arafiq - you are right; my listening area is relatively small and those Fritz speakers worked very nicely there... I agree with your descriptions, too!
Detachable Head shell or Not?
I've got a Technics SL-1200G; it's got a detachable headshell and I'm perfectly happy with it....
best speaker stands for Harbeth
I've got Skylan stands that were made for Super HL5, and they're great! I've currently got both the speakers and the stands up for sale....
Genre: Sacred or Early World Music, what's your go to?
Tuvan throat singing is amazing - sounds to me so much like an Aboriginal digeridoo....

Fritz Carrera BE vs. Harbeth 30.1
I replaced Harbeth Super HL-5's with Fritz Carrera BE's. Both great speakers, and sound completely different, but I found Fritz's speakers to work better with the rock and reggae I mostly listen to, and they have better bass in my room. Now I'm us...
