Fear Inoculum in Vinyl
So much misinformation on this thread.
Just my observation - seems like there is less listed on AG
If it's relatively inexpensive, I'll list on Agon, but otherwise, it's USAM - percentages are too high here; I'll go with free...
Speakers on carpet over concrete
I have wall-to-wall carpet in my listening room, with stand mount speakers; I found a big difference, especially in the bass, between using spikes and not using them. I think there is a thick layer of concrete between floors of my apartment buildi...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
I guess for some folks, having a super-precise instrument/piece of gear is of more importance than how it sounds. As long as each side respects the other, seems equally valid to me, though I'm into sounds myself, not measurements.
Seller Listing Pet Peeve
@carlsbad - it's been the 'internet age' for a few decades now. That new-fangled Google thing is quite useful for finding info right away about pretty much anything, though. 😁 I do agree though that sellers should have photos of the back of the u...
Great Rock Bassists your Top 10.Rock not Jazz. But Hey what about Reggae
@cd318 - ever seen or heard Peter Hook's Light, with both Hooky and his son on bass, playing mostly JD but some NO stuff as well?
Favorite religious song
@jond - You are right - I am a JGB fan too, and went to loads of their shows here in San Francisco, and Jerry always liked to do the occasional soulful or spiritual number; he played 'My Brothers and Sisters' at every show during the late 80's and...
Axpona observations
Since the room itself plays the most important part in a listening experience, I wouldn't think you're going to hear the best, or even a representative performance from most anything. Judging gear sound based on trade show rooms seems a bit iffy.....
Favorite religious song
The only 'religious' music I'll ever listen to is roots reggae. Not my religion (I don't do religions), but love the music....
Who's an artist that you're a fan of but whose name you're not sure how to pronounce?
@deadhead1000 - pronunciation guide: "Yor-ma" "Cow-Ke-nun" 😁
Looking for a new (preowned OK) line stage under $5K: suggestions?
Keith Herron/Herron Audio makes some superb preamps....
How do you judge audio components and speakers?
@jackhifiguy + 1
Now, this is some fun!
I've heard about other folks who run their subwoofer along with listening on their cans. That's something that makes a bit more sense to me....
The Music at AXPONA 2022
 Rap and hip-hop can be great, and just as valid as any other genre, but old people tend to not like it. These people sound like folks from my parents' generation (I'm 70) when rock music came out. Why couldn't we listen to 'real' music like Frank...
The Music at AXPONA 2022
Aren't Diana Krall's records aimed at audio show demos? 😆
