Hearing aids I've worn hearing aids for about 15 years or so, and have likely needed them well before that. Hearing loss runs in my family, plus I've been to hundreds of concerts! I love headphones and have a great headphone system as well as a 2-channel one. ...
Different R2R DACs I've got a Holo May KTE DAC - didn't quite wet myself, but did replace it in my system where a DAVE + M Scaler used to be. That May into my Auris Nirvana tube amp IS nirvana! But not if you like more analytical sound....
Faulty hearing. I've worn hearing aids for about 15 years or so; currently I use in-ear ones so I can listen on headphones, too. It is absolutely true that hearing aids cannot bring back hearing you've permanently lost; they alter the 'curve' so it seems like mor...
New Order fans? @cd318 - Have you ever seen Peter Hook and the Light? I've seen them a couple of times - the last one seemed like it was 6 or 7 years ago, and Hooky's son was up there playing bass as well - hearing JD songs with 2 wonderful bassists was a terrifi...
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle. @chorus - I live in San Francisco, and I enjoy popping into Music Lovers on occasion. You are incorrect however as to its location - it's not in downtown SF, it's over by the Fillmore. I like the 'by appointment' shops, too. Not a big deal to make...
New Order fans? I've got that 12" of Blue Monday, too! I like New Order, but I liked Joy Division better....
MC cart recommendation max $2000 for 1200G stock I've got a 1200G and I use a $2000 Clearaudio Charisma MM cartridge, and it sounds fantastic!!
Holo Audio May DAC I also run a Holo May DAC right out from the USB on my iMac, into an Auris Nirvana headphone amp. Before I did anything with the DAC, I just turned it on and left it that way for 3 weeks. These things require a LOT of burn-in, or so I'm told. But ...
$39K for the Linn Klimax DAC/streamer? If you've got the $$$ and you want it, nothing wrong with that! I don't think it's intended to win a 'value-for-money' competition.
May as well call this... Thanks, @nonoise - I didn't realize one could post photos on here without an actual URL. I used to be a concert photographer in the 1970's; might put some of those up on an appropriate thread....
No Insurance with FEDEX as of 11/01 As long as it's not DHL, it's OK with me - I use both FedEx and UPS and have had no problems with either. I didn't think that 'no insurance' thing sounded right - I'm glad the OP cleared that up.
Vinylistas and Tubers - One and the same? I like a tube preamp and a SS power amp (tube all the way with headphones), and I listen to vinyl, CD's, DVD's, and TV through the system. As long as it sounds good to me, I don't care about being some kind of purist as to source material.
RIP Graeme Edge The Moodies played my freshman concert in our college gym back in 1969.... RIP Graeme...
Rock musicians with musical education. I've heard too many virtuoso musicians who couldn't come up with a memorable tune to save their lives. I would always rather hear a good song than somebody showing off how 'great' they are on their instrument.
Bands/artists you never got to see live in their heyday, but would've liked to. @shtinkydog - Heya! I don't think we'll see a Banshees reformation, as Siouxsie dumped Budgie a long time ago now, and even had songs dissing him on 'Mantaray'. How long ago was that 'Evening with Siouxsie'? I'd like to see her and Severin get bac... |
