Need Help With a Bright System
I thought I had a bright system too. I bought PAD Musaeus speaker cables and an interconnect for the CD player and it helped more than any other cable I tried, but the system was still brighter than I preferred. When I finally tried the Musaeus int...
PS Audio vs. Cary
Another vote for Cary Audio ANYTHING. I use all Cary gear for my Home Theater electronics which sounded so good with music that became my full time 2 channel rig as well.
What is the best value you have encountered?
I remember being angry at Cable Co when I first tried the Museaus speaker cable. It just sounded so much better and more expensive than the other stuff in my price range, I thought CC stuck an expensive one in there to make me jump my price point....
You might be an audiophile if...
your wife actually understands why spending $800 on a single pair of cables is desireable. Hint: try throwing discussing more trivial non-technical topics like how you'll afford shoes for the kids, etc. Er, OK maybe not.
Why do digital cables sound different?
Just got the Stereovox, and there's really a night and day difference. The Monsters are warmer but details are lost and smeared - not bad for music listening, but they were just a bit too euphonic. The Stereovox (burnt in by the Cable Co) have exc...
Why do digital cables sound different?
Well, I never believed that there could be differences between digital cables - strictly ones and ohhs. But then I thought about it and realized that there's a significant difference between the sound of coax and toslink in my system. Hmmm - still...
The Cable Company - Wow
Don't forget that you can use your credit with usedcable.com also owned by The Cable Company. Unfortunately I never run out of uses for my Cable Co credits.. ;)
The Cable Company - Wow
I've wondered myself about how they decide which cables to send. When I ordered speaker wire, I received cable from the same 4 manufacturers as when I tried interconnects. I guess it makes sense in that I told them I was looking for something warmer.
Acoustic Zen or Harmonic Technology
I was surprised that my guy at the Cable Company said "no" when I asked him if i should try to keep cables in the same family. He said once most people audition various cables, they seldom end up buying more of the same brand. After trying all Pur...
Anybody using Stereovox HDSE interconnects?
I demoed some recently from the cable company. I thought they did sound very natural and especially nice with vocals. The only negative was that some detail was definitely lost. I listened to them quite a bit because i liked their overall presenta...
speaker cable that will soften the highs
I auditioned many of Cable Companies recommended darker cables in the under $500 price range. For my system, the Purist Audio Museaus's worked best. It gave me all the smoothness, warmth and fullness of the Cardas in that range, while sounding com...
Better sound quality than the I-pod?
Remember that I have no experience with any of these types of units. But what I'm hearing is that sound quality is so similar with all the units that the Ipod is a no-brainer because of it's superior design?I can't imagine not going with the IRive...
Better sound quality than the I-pod?
Actually I've probably done too much reading. Negative comments I've read about the Ipod's sound seem to generalize that they're bass deficient and a bit bright/shrill. I'm looking for an idea of relative sound quality between the best players whe...
Best bi-wire speaker cables under $1000
I second Purist Audio Museaus. I've been auditioning lost of stuff from cable company - Goertz, Analysis Plus, Cardas (two different), Synergistic (2 different) and Harmonic Tech in addition to the AQ Midnight and Straightwire Sextet I already own...
N802 speaker cable suggestion
Audphile - I've been auditioning speaker cable through the Cable Company recently and I can tell you its the ONLY way to audition cable. After reading tons on these forums, I figured the Cardas line was the one for me. When Cable Co actually sent ...
