installing subwoofer to 2 channel system Depends on the sub. A suitable powered sub would have connections to take care of the interfacing with a regular stereo system.Kal
NHT new speakers M60, M80 Only a few have heard them yet. I am expecting a set for review very soon. There's great potential but they are for a defined domestic application in their present form.Kal
room shape and speakers? No, square is bad for acoustics since all the modes (which create emphasis and nulls) would be equal and additive. No, aside from Fiddler on the Roof, it would be an unnatural perspective.Kal
15 amp vs. 20 amp: please explain All other things being equal, the only difference is the current-carrying ability. Better depends on other things not being equal.Kal
Suggestion for Amp with 2 sets of spk terminals Why not just buy a switch? After all, that's what you get if you have an amp with 2 sets of switchable terminals.Kal
How do you switch between 2Ch and MC on hybrids On the 5900, there's a front panel switch for setup of SACDs. Mine, too, defaults to MCH but it can easily be reset to stereo SACD or CD. I imagine the 3910 has a similar switching.Kal

Turntable plays 33.5 Lps very slow 12-26-04: Jea48 wrote: "Kal, the rest of us in this thread new he ment 33-1/3."I know what he meant, too, but I couldn't resist the little joke. Note the smiley, please.
Turntable plays 33.5 Lps very slow Well, if your LPs really are 33.5rpm, it's no wonder they play a little slow. ;-)Kal
MLP with Arcam DV79 & Meridian 561M They talked about MLP while others were talking about DVD-A and SACD. MLP became a real product as part of DVD-A.Kal
MLP with Arcam DV79 & Meridian 561M No. MLP (you can look it up) is a lossless compression having nothing (in theory) to do with DD or DTS. So far as I know, it is used exclusively with DVD-A and mostly, but not exclusively, with multichannel DVD-A. Also, as with SACD, there are sev...
MLP with Arcam DV79 & Meridian 561M The MLP is only on the disc. The Arcam cannot output it and, in fact, Meridian's own players cannot either. The only way to get it out is with 6 analog connections and, if the Meridian 561 lacks such an input, you cannot do it with this combinatio...
MLP with Arcam DV79 & Meridian 561M Yes, but the Arcam DV79 is all that's needed to decode it. You need to use the (6) analog outputs from the Arcam to the Meridian for it as the Arcam will not output full DVD-A on the digital outputs.Kal
MLP with Arcam DV79 & Meridian 561M What does it mean interms of redbook CD playback, DVD playback, and DVD-A playback?Nothing, nothing, everything. It is a lossless compression method used only for DVD-A. Look up "Meridian Lossless Packing."Kal
How to equalize a bi-amplification setup? All you need is in-line attenuators (potentiometer or fixed resistors) in the IC to the Aleph 0s. All this is lot of bother, I think.Kal |
