Speakers & the room
When I had the EOS Sigs in my apartment I had them about 7 feet apart, too, with a listening distance of about 11.5 feet. Absolutely wonderful with really good bass.Kal
Why not use mains as centers
I have no problem with your satisfaction but you have traded a dynamically inadequate solution (dedicated center) for a spatially compromised one. If that is optimum, fine. There are center speakers that will do fine in a large room, such as the B&...
Why not use mains as centers
Ouch! If you lay that on its side, you are encumbering all (and I mean all!) the comb filtering and irregularity of any horizontal center and, probably, compromising the otherwise ideal match to your other Kappa 9s. You are a good example of the m...

It looks like a great setup but there are a few things you might consider before going to a subwoofer. It seems to me that both imaging setup and bass setup is critical:1. Repositioning the speakers. They look too close to the side walls and aimed...

Oppo 983 vs Sony SCD-777ES, any experiences?
Via the Benchmark DAC, you are limited to CDs, not SACDs. So, as SACD players via analog outputs, the advantage of the Sony remains. Via the HDMI output of the Oppo, things are different.Kal
Why not use mains as centers
Right, Bob, except I did that a few years back. ;-)I recall being annoyed at the repetition of basic articles in the hobbyist mags every 2-3 years back when I was an avid reader of the audio and photography mags. Now, I realize that there are new ...

I have heard the ML only at show demos and found it impressive although that was to be expected. I have not auditioned it at home.Kal
Good Analog EQ
Peidpiper makes a good point. There are many types of EQ and each is best suited to particular applications. Manley's Massive Passive is a parametric EQ which could be used for room correction (2channel only) with the support of external measureme...

Good. As I said, and for many reasons, Maggies are a special case.Kal
