Best Speaker cables for Rotel - JBL Speakers
There is no such thing as "best." What cables are you using presently and what would you like to improve on your system? More warmth or detail? I've found that Kimber VS/TC is very good sounding. Surprisingly, Audioquest Type 2 (17ga. wire) is exc...
$500 used CD Player Recommendations
Why not buy an NAD C542 to match your amp? (Unless you're planing on changing out the amp?) They are on sale @ the moment on AudioAdvisor along w/the Cambridges as well.
some 70's and 80's receivers seem to be popular
I highly recommend you pick up a 70's 22XX Marantz Receiver in good working order and you will find out how good they sound. (I have the 2218 model. Very Musical) I also own a Sony VX-5 receiver which I modified w/new power cord/binding posts/a hi...
Cambridge - 540A /640A ver. 2 Integrated Amplifier
I have the 540V2 in a downstairs basement system driving some KRIX equinox bookshelf speakers. Sounds excellent. 60w per ch. Plenty of power. Save $ and get the 540v2. Seems to be very well built/very high quality. I'm not sure how it would stack ...
Looking for some cheaper Speaker Cables-$600 or so
Consider the Kimber 8VS. Not Telfon coated as is the TC, so not as detailed. For the cost, very good wire. Much better than the PR. Linn K20 would be fine as well.
Opinion of my older Snell E111's please -
If memory serves me, the IV's very alittle narrower and the tweeters were different. One thing I would consider doing w/them if a had to remove the woofer, is changing out the bidding posts. (BP Hex's would be an exc. choice) You would be quite su...

I meant to say "rear" tweeter instead of "real" tweeter. Also, these spks. are rated for amps between 15 to 150 watts. I understand what you're saying about their size. There are some extremely good sounding slender floorstanders available. They m...

Hi Deb. I own a pr. of these very fine spks. The owners manual doesn't list any specs, but a sales brochure I have does. +/- 1.75 dB from 39Hz to 20 kHz anechoic. Crossover 2.7 kHz. Nom. impedence 6 ohms. sensitivity 91 dB w/1 watt in anechoic cha...
Something is amiss
I would first play w/the distance/spread & toe-in of the spks. to your listening spot. (I have a very difficult room as well and I have my TV between my spks.) I can understand why you prefer the Monster spk. cables. What kind of power cords a...
College student stuck w/ bad speakers: advise pls
If there's a "strong" return policy, I would try one these spks. out first and see if they work for you. I would make sure they are effecient spks. (say 91db 1w. and an easy load for your amp., 6-8 ohm also.) Every 3db is like having an amp twice ...
Rega Brio Sufficient?
I would think if the spks. you are planning on buying is above 86/87 db per 1w you should be fine. You'll find out soon enough. If the 30w isn't enough buy the Brio 3 and keep both. My Brio 3 is having no problem at all driving my KRIX Apex III MK...
Weakest Link + hardwired = ??
Yes, I believe they were gold in color. I remember them as being very tight fitting on my Int. amp's rca jacks. The Neutrik's are very, very good. If you decide to order them you'll be impressed w/them, especially considering how little they cost....
Weakest Link + hardwired = ??
I changed out the really cheap stock RCA connectors on my entry level Project TT (Model 1.2 I believe) w/ some Neutrik NYS373's. ($1.89 from PartsExpress.) What a difference! Good advice from Carl. I don't what model you own, but if it has those i...
Advice on best small speaker for under $400 used
The smaller you go, generally the less bass you'll get. I personally would look into Tannoy. I own the Fusion 1 and MX-M1. Very forgiving spks. that sound great. I'm driving them w/vintage Sony Int. amps in the 50w per ch. range. Another possibilt...
Castle Conway 3
It is amazing how finding the right spk. positions can make the difference. The Arcams should serve you well for many years. Glad things worked out for the better. Bill
