New Budget CD Player I just opened up my 855 and unless you move the transformer(which I did) the IEC chassis plug is a tight fit (vertical mounting w/the factory transformer location or horizontally mounted w/the transformer relocated.)Replacing the stock chassis RCA...
New Budget CD Player I'm not sure you would be getting a better CDP than the Rotel unless you're willing to spend quite a bit more. This is a really good sounding CDP in stock form, but w/a few simple and inexpensive modifications, this CDP will be more of a "giant ki...
Looking to upgrade from Rotel 1062 integrated I won't worry what others may think, nor about the cost of one's system. You have a VERY nice system. (And you enjoy it!) Before you go a spend a fortune, have you considered perhaps "Tweeking" your !062? Upgrade the IEC chassis plug (Furatech) an...
Any vintage tuners with a small footprint? Sony made in the 80's a really nice, small, great sounding tuner, ST-V7, I believe was the model #. Hard to find but you see them Ebay occasionally.
HELP SUGGESTIONS FOR A BETTER SOUND Once had a mint 3B in my system, which I thought sounded very good. When I tried out a 4B-ST in the same system, the 4B-ST completely outclassed the 3B. No comparison. I know there's a power difference, but the newer model was much, much better IMO.
W/ $200 what amp would you buy? I can tell you from personally experience that the Rotel RB-951 MkII is one heck of an amp. Rated @ 50w per channel, but way under-rated. Sweet little amp.
Attaching speaker wire directly to crossover? Changing out the binding posts from an inexpensive factory stock to a decent quality set such as Superior Electric's, Vampire's, etc...can make a world of improvement. I personally would not consider wiring directly unless the spks were very, very...
C7 Power Cord Comparisons? You have two other options. An adapter (C7 to 320IEC) or change out the C7 chassis mount to a reg. IEC. I have one of these adapters if interested. Bill
Speakers and TT for NAD 3020 Micro-Budget System? This is what I would buy if I was in your shoes as far as spks. I checked the FS section here under "Monitors" and I saw a pair of Dahlquist M903's for the asking price of $125/BO. The seller (which I no not know) is located not far from you. Ask ...
Pioneer Elite A-35r and Magnepan MMG's This amp will work at low/moderate volumn but will not do justice to the capabilities of the Maggies. I really don't think that your amp is for the MMG's. IMO.
jumping back in, where should i start? This what I would do. I would sell the Rotel 940 pre-amp/tuner combo and buy Rotel seperate pre-amp and seperate tuner. Say a 990 or 995 pre and an older 850 tuner or a newer RT-990 tuner. These pieces are so much better sounding. The rest are fin...
Considering a move to Exposure or Naim I understand your liking of the Tannoy F2's as I have the F1's and the MX1-1m's. These are great sounding spks. I disagree w/your statement that the Saturn and YBA outclasses the Tannoy's. I've listened to the Monitor Audio's for about 3 hrs while...
Considering a move to Exposure or Naim Why don't you buy an amp w/enough juice to drive a rock? I just don't see anything w/less than 150w to give the drive and dynamics for rock. If you have a local dealer why not try a few loaners for a personal home trial? Also, alot of equipment ca...
help me decide on budget phono pre Although it does not have a USB port, I highly recommend you consider the Creek OBH-9SE listed here on Agon. I have the 8SE and if it's anything like mine, you will be very pleased overall. Don't wait.
display lights on NAD Yes, I find this a little strange too. Send NAD an email and ask what can be done. |
