ADCOM GFA 555ii repair
If you do repair and keep it, I highly recommend using some type of power conditioner on it. I found a HUGE difference when I plugged my 555' into a Power Wedge from their time.

Well, in CT if you find a repair place you're looking at probably $100 - $150 for a repair bill. That's not saying all the other aging stuff in the amp is OK. It really may be the most cost effective to look into a newer used amp. Two Hundred watt...

You could also consider $5,000 a gift for those speakers.
A Tale of Two Crossovers
I just looked at the Sublime K235, and for the price, I feel I will stick with the Marchand choice. I like the idea of changing the crossover point without all the work of plugging in new boards. Thank you for suggesting it though, as I had not se...

Yes, The XM-66 is probably the highest on my list of possibilities.

My 2 subs are VINO (Velodyne in name only) because, being Velodyne, they have both broken. Tired of repairing them, I bypassed the electronics and ran wires to just the drivers. So now they are 15" passive subs. I use a Crown 2500 for the lowpass ...

Bomer: I had the DBX Venue 360 in the system, but found it to be annoying having to run it through my computer. It was supposed to run on an iPad also, but they never fixed the problem that arose when Apple changed their OS a while back. I also d...

@mashif Good to know. What is the slope and lowpass frequency on your sub? Also, did you lose any of the "magic" with the Marchand? Specifically fine details, depth and imaging.

@mitch2 Your post reads like you are happy with the passive filter, but you say it did not improve the sound. Please elaborate if you prefer the Marchand or not, and is that why you are selling it on USAM? I'm not trying to be a smarta$$. Thanks.

Well, there you have it. It seems I have about a snowball's chance in Hell of getting this idea to sound correct. I think I will let the Nefes play full range and let the subs give a helping hand under 50 Hz or so. My subs have all kinds of adjust...

OK, thanks all. My reasoning for wanting to do this is to limit cone movement of the 2 full range drivers. Since they have no crossovers at all, they must play the delicate midrange as well as the thumpy bass. I figure if I can cut out the cone mo...
Marchand Passive Filter
@mashif  When you give Marchand the cutoff frequency is that what is considered the -3db point, or the starting point of the high pass?
What is the lowest voltage acceptable ?
@blackbag20  Good one from Mr. Mom Quick and funny... not hurting anyone. A good way to start my day.
Crossovers and power handling, and why 1st order filters can be bad
I liked the article, but are you Erik or Nigel?
Active vs passive crossover
Using all the same amps in a multi-way DSP active setup (with subs) seems unusual. It's like having a set of screw drivers that are all the same.
