New jazz and the incredible Céline Bonacina
Great liner notes.
How is Mid Fi defined?
Hi fi: what I can't afford.Mid fi: what I might be able to afford.Lo fi: what I can afford, but don't necessarily want to listen to.
Sealing ported enclosure to reduce boom
"Sealing" the port is a bad idea. The drivers and crossover were designed to work with the port open, at least to some degree. The suggestions to play with positioning away from boundaries and partially blocking the port with foam or even a sock a...
Buzz/hum from amps, NOT from speakers
Did you ever fix your problem? Were you able to determine anything regarding the Belkin Power conditioner's performance beyond not being able to fix your specific problem - i.e. any positive or negative effects on the overall sound of your system?...
Line Conditioner:To plug or not to plug Big Amp in
Peter, very nice system. Great power cord solution, eliminating all but connection to breaker and one IEC connector. Talk about minimalist approach.
Line Conditioner:To plug or not to plug Big Amp in
Has anybody tried the Belkin PF-60 with moderate to high power audiophile amplifiers? I am using a PureAV PF-30 for a small office system and absolutely love it - cleans up grunge in very dirty AC with no apparent dynamic compression. Best bargain...
The CD player is dead.......
Devilboy, the most on-target post of the whole thread. Maybe nobody told you though, LSD is dead... It has been replaced by HD video downloads.
The CD player is dead.......
What a discussion, 117 posts so far including this one. Here are the points I find most compelling on both sides:The CD should not die, yet:1. Owning and having access to physical media is attractive to many, with cover art, liner notes and a tact...
The CD player is dead.......
Devilboy, a more relevant subject line to me would be: "The 16/44.1 format is dead..." Maybe the answer is yes, but not in the direction I want. There are at least hundreds of millions of downloads each day at resolutions much lower than red book ...
The CD player is dead.......
Devilboy, aside from actually resembling your statement, I have some questions for you. Does your hard drive sound better than your cd player? Does your hard drive sound as good as your cd player? Do you not care about having physical media to hol...
musical fidelity a5 tipped-up treble
The PrimaLuna and Cary would warm things up considerably. Both very good. Marantz idea is very good one in this case as well.
Yet Another Speaker Choice Question
Agree with Steveaudio. The Dyns will crave Solid State, so if keeping the amp, I would look elsewhere for speakers. The Sonus Fabers are a COMPLETELY different direction - warm to a fault perhaps, boardring on rolled-off. Their Classic series is s...
Are you a Verificationist about audio?
Interesting discussion. But it seems like an effort to label or create a logical construct around a set of observations that are ultimately difficult to properly frame - an exercise where words and definitions ultimately fall even shorter than our...
Quick poll: Most enjoyable audio magazine ?
I find Stereophile the most enjoyable because of Sam Tellig.
