Speakers in 10-15K price range for Classical music Sanders 10b's look interesting, have you heard them?
B&W's objective opinions lean or accurate I have listened to the 1c, 2ce Sig. and the 7's more carefully, the 3A Sig., quatro and 5's briefly. I have liked every pair I have listened to in various systems and listening spaces, and have to say the 7's are a "Statement Audio Product". Peopl...
The Next Step - what would you do? Your A/B/C/D-in-your-home idea is terrific and the best (only?) way to really evaluate gear IMHO.With all I said above, the Thiel CS1.6's are hard to knock, very accurate but a little bass shy. Often however, honesty in music reproduction can get ...
Small-ish Speakers That Come Alive At Low Volume I would also look at the PSB Platinum M2 which can be purchased new for about $1200 right now.
The Next Step - what would you do? I would go with the different speakers. It is not just a matter of efficiency or power. It is a matter of what sounds like "music". The ProAc's and Spender's sound more musical to me than Thiels, and I believe would mate with the Pass electronics ...
B&W's objective opinions lean or accurate If you can swing the cost differential, the Vandersteen Quatro Wood has a slightly different profile, but similar delivery to the 3A. The 2ce Signature is also very good and slightly smaller than the 3A.
Small-ish Speakers That Come Alive At Low Volume Given your budget, I might suggest a few other choices:Aerial Acoustics 5BHarbeth HL-P3ES2Joseph Audio RM7XLRefernce 3A DulcetSpender SA1
B&W's objective opinions lean or accurate If size and placement is an issue, you might want to look at PSB Imagine or Synchrony lines as an alternative to B&W for combined music and HT duty. Vandersteen 3As are not ideal given your circumstances as they are relatively big and need roo...
Small-ish Speakers That Come Alive At Low Volume The French have it - in addition to the Titus, I suggest the Focal Chorus 805V or 806V, although I don't recall if their ports fire to the front. I also like the Rega RS1 for this application (which, of course, is not French).
Best Match for Dynaudio Contour S3.4? Fredorama,Were the Odyssey's new? I have read they take "FOREVER" to break in fully, as much as 250 hours of use and several months, not just being turned on for a few weeks... YMMVhttp://www.soundstage.com/revequip/odysseyaudio_stratos.htm
Integrated recomendation for Quad 22l2 Good choice, I was going to suggest a used Naim Nait 5.
how to side-grade from B&W 805's? $6K? I thought Koven said $1.5K... give or take a few hundred. Here is another vote for the PSB Imagine T. I auditioned some of these a few days ago with a modest ARC pre and tube power amp, a Simaudio Moon 5.3 CDP and they were absolutely wonderfu...
Recommendation for Music/Movies - B&W, Paradigm... No worries, you are on the right track.
Three best audiophile CD/LP in your collection I am beginning to believe that there is something to the hot stamper theory RE vinyl - that some indvidual pressings are much better than others, regardless of whether they are "audiophile" or even "heavy" vinyl. Case in point, my best reference r...
Basic Preamp - suggestions? To the above suggestions I would add the Hafler DH-101. I would just pull the trigger on something recommended above and listen to see if it rings your bells - not all old NAD, Adcom, etc. were equally adept, nor will all match well with your amp.... |
