Honest Experience on Effects of Subwoofer Please AKG_C wrote, "You see, it’s very difficult and expensive to build a good subwoofer. One reason is that a sub has to move a tremendous amount of air, which places big demands on the driver (or drivers). Moving lots of air requires a lot of power an...
All New Magico A5 Loudspeakers // Biggest "BANG" For Your BUCK On The Market ?! "Curious when instrument builders will start implementing aluminum, concrete and granite to their designs..." Wig 🤭 I imagine instrument makers will do that as soon as they decide that they want their instruments to stop resonating with the timb...
Upgrade from clearaudio maestro mm to $2-3k mc cart? I use an Ortofon Cadenza Bronze cartridge which is within your 2,000.00 to 3,000.00 stated price range. Not only does it sound very good but also its Replicant 100 stylus works surprisingly well to reduce surface noise with older LPs.
Low Output MC recommendations? I am very pleased with my Ortofon Cadenza Bronze. It sings sweetly.
Local pick up only… Some years back I had a pair of Klipschorns for sale, local pickup only. The buyer ended up being a guy in Chicago who sent two of his employees down to Georgia to pick them up. I can't even imagine what would have been involved in crating them ...

Speaker Questions For $880.00 the Polk HT speaker rig sounds like a good deal. I haven't heard them so discount my opinion. Back in the day when I sometimes heard Polk speakers at stores they were never SOTA, but they were a quite credible product.
most beautiful (looking) speakers Even DIY speakers don't have to be all that ugly. This is one side of my DIY fully horn loaded triamplified speakers. It is a bad photo in that it cuts off part of the Fostex t900a bullet super tweeters at the top of the image.
most beautiful (looking) speakers When it comes to beautiful speakers there is the Living Voice Vox Olympia and then there is everything else.
Why do folks spend more on electronics than on speakers? These "what is the most important component" threads put me in mind of the question, what is the most important your shoulder, your arm or your hand. It takes a whole system to let you hug your wife. Everything matters.
Tekton Design - New IRL Technology - Lifelike, Real, Immersive If IRL sounds as described we should consider the possibility that Eric is some sort of audio genius. If it doesn't he still gets high marks for salesmanship.
Thermal Distortion your loudspeaker most likely suffers from it. But do you care? Please pardon my ignorance, but I am confused by the references to liquid metal wires or liquid metal passive preamps. What metal that is liquid at room temperature is used to make this equipment? How is it contained so that it can't leak out?
Using a mono speaker instead of stereo? I used to, 1980s, play all music, even that from two channel sources, in surround sound with DSP and seven high quality DIY speakers with all Dynaudio drivers. The more I improved the quality of my two main front speakers and their electronics t...
Thermal Distortion your loudspeaker most likely suffers from it. But do you care? This seems to be a good argument in favor of quite high efficiency speakers such as my 106dB/watt/meter horns.
Warning for Revel lovers Last October I put 50% down on a Clearaudio tt/arm and Ortofon cartridge rig from HiFi Buys in Atlanta. I was told it would be in in three weeks. Nineteen days later it was in the store waiting for me to pick it up. I only mention this to point ou... |
