Where to go after Bel Canto Ref1000MKII
Mapman, that would be the best, since speaker designer knows more about DF effects than anybody else.
Fuses that matter.
Bryon, Roger talks about any detectable change in sound while we discuss here if "major difference in my sound" that Tbg experienced can be repeated and benefit others.

Mapman, I'm also a happy owner of Icepowered amp (Rowland 102). I think that bass control is phenomenal but at the end it might be only difference with effective DF=100 to DF=50 (with DF=100 amp) and that is change of 100%.Unless woofer has separa...

Mapman, take into consideration that DF is already limited to about 100 by XO inductor (approx. 0.08ohm) in series with the woofer. You don't want to limit it any further but it might be hard to hear difference between DF=90.1 (with DF=1000 amp) a...
Warning about "so called Hi Rez" downloads
Audioman58, How can they offer money back guarantee? On your word of honor that you deleted download? I buy a lot of things on internet and never had a problem but my daughter had her credit card numbers stolen. She's not sure how it happened - it...
Idol fans weigh in
Performance is good IMHO when I feel I would buy a record. The only one I would consider buying is Joshua. He is already great singer. Jessica is very good but might end up the way Maria Carey did - some early signs of it. Phillip sang Volcano alm...
Parents need clear sounding 2 ch HT
Room treatments will reduce reverberation and improve clarity. When I bought acoustic panels warehouse clerk showed me conference room that they treated 100% with acoustic fiberglass foam (floor to ceiling between studs). Sound was amazing. I've n...
How far can room treatments solve boomy bass?
Martykl, Yes taming low bass might be difficult but it is doable. My panels won't work well below 125Hz, according to datasheet, but 4" panel would. I hope that putting 2" panels on opposite walls will increase damping at low frequencies. I will k...
How far can room treatments solve boomy bass?
Martykl, It is not only issue of loudness but also extended decay time. I also feel that additional pieces of electronics in the signal path don't improve clarity.I agree with Ja2austintx assessment: fix the room, then decide.
Any hope for SACD?
I suspect that SACD was created partially to introduce format that cannot be copied. Unfortunately greed killed it at the very start. Price of over $30 for SACD was about double of CDs while royalties and cost of manufacturing was about the same. ...
Bad CDP but good transport?
Tiofelon, DVD players are bad CDPs but have pretty good transport.
Fuses that matter.
Tbg wrote: "None of this discussion matters much to me. I am merely stating my experiences"Tbg, It is discussion forum. If discussion does not matter to you then perhaps fuse REVIEW would be a better format? Once discussion started (with your part...
How far can room treatments solve boomy bass?
Zmanastronomy, I've tried it but it has to be very loose fabric and it also reduces bass punch. I had more room resonances with previous speakers (two 6" woofers) than new (two 8" woofers). It could be that larger woofers deliver more sound direct...
Fuses that matter.
Marakanetz, don't forget that for Russian Orthodox fuse should always point to the east while for Muslims direction of Mecca is pretty much mandatory.
How far can room treatments solve boomy bass?
Walls create bass peaks. They amplify frequency (and multiples) that is f=1135/(2*L) where 1135 is speed of sound in ft/s and L is distance between front and rear wall (2 is for traveling back and forth in order to add). Larger room should help bu...
