Another reason why I like my music server
Mapman, I enjoy my system with Airport Express and Benchmark DAC1.Advantage of such setup is huge - timing on computer side of wireless doesn't count since data comes without timing compressed in packets. Type of computer, speed, OS, amount of mem...
Fuses that matter.
He also says:"I do not hear more clarity, increase in soundstage or other things many people claim"He also mentions: "we made arrangement with the distributor for some Spectron discount"which sounds to me like marketing ploy."Am I asking to get fr...
Fuses that matter.
Bryon, be sure to turn OFF and UNPLUG! Do test with preamp (regulated supplies) as well. Good luck.
Fuses that matter.
"Now when I hear a consensus that clear major differences can be heard in a predictable manner, I tend to take more notice"I'm also wary of small tweaks, since my hearing is perhaps less than perfect, but I have to admit that some small tweaks wor...
Fuses that matter.
Bryon, Imagine that you listen to your system at 5:50PM to establish a baseline and again with new fuse at 6:00PM. At 6:00PM radio stations cut power in half according to FCC regulations - you detected improvement. Now you test other fuses. You al...
Error correction for Apple Lossless?
You can always rip one CD again with new settings and compare. If you don't hear improvement then leave it alone (unless you have pops and clicks).
Fuses that matter.
Mapman, If you open your mind too much your brain will fall out.
Error correction for Apple Lossless?
Jeffatus, you're probably talking about Itunes option. Set it ON - it will slow down ripping (slightly) but will prevent pops. Better yet, download better ripping programs (like EAC for PC or MAX for Mac - both free). These programs can be more ac...
Does one NEED floor standing speakers for HT only?
Baranowski, Good sub is expensive (even if you already have it you could sell it). Same go for the stands. Integration of the sub is not always the easiest thing. I decided to settle for floor standers with 30Hz response and no sub. Certain powere...
Fuses that matter.
Bryon, I'm trying to make some sense of this as well. I don't question Tbg experience but am skeptical, as I was long time ago with cables. It is always important to be informed and that was done thanks to this thread.
Idol fans weigh in
Bander, Yes, there were few amazing performances but measure of good artist is consistency. Some of the previous winner coming back as established artist to perform at American Idol are just horrible. Taylor Hicks performance last season was below...
Fuses that matter.
Mapman, Now I'm 100% sure we're going nowhere, since you brought wives into discussion.
Where to go after Bel Canto Ref1000MKII
Mapman, acoustic bass has very good bass definition, being long scale instrument, in comparison to bass guitar (unless slapped). If feel sorry for the guy who had to carry this instrument if my system cannot do it justice.
Fuses that matter.
Mapman, that's true but if you take into consideration things like purity of metal, resistance, inductance, capacitance, dielectric constant and absorption it will be all multiplied by hundreds in power cable simply because of the length not to me...
Where to go after Bel Canto Ref1000MKII
Mapman, yes they are related since negative feedback lowers output impedance but class D has pretty low output impedance to start with since speaker is always connected to low impedance source (GND or V+) with Mosfets and only direction changes. W...
