What tattoo to get next?
jeff,if you are truly meant to have a tat, wouldn't it already be obvious which one to get? it seems a little silly to ask strangers on an internet forum for advice in this area!
Best Pre1L tubes?
Perry,I have the same preamp and would also like to know what some people think about tube upgrades. I have also been wondering if there are any other mods that have succesfully been done to the Pre1L.There are a few threads on tube rolling the Pr...

Problem copying a CD
if you are burning "on the fly" with the source disc in one drive and the blank in the other... you shouldn't be! this is a big no-no!!!not only will you get errors such as the one you are seeing, but you can also get audible defects.to get a good...
What other obsessions do you have?
Rediculously fast street cars.I'm building a car around a 521ci engine which happens to be a 1965 Mustang. Building a reliable 700hp+ engine with no nitrous oxide, turbos, or supercharger is a challenge, but building a car to accept and withstand ...
The Best Live album
I remember reading a huge thread about that 5/8/77 show saying how it never happened. The argument was that it was too perfect in both performance and sound quality and was merely a compilation of different songs from other shows. It was pretty en...
Apple Ipod
before you buy the i pod, encode some cds to mp3, convert back to wav, and burn on a disc. play them in your system and see if you like what you hear. if you don't like the way mp3 sounds you might not want to do the i pod thing.
What music do you want to play really loud?
i just listened to the wall this morning for the first time in like 10 years (loud!) because i havn't heard it on my new system. it left me paralyzed!
Media Software
you can convert the wavs to either .shn or .flac (both LOSSLESS compression) and use winamp with the appropriate plugins to decode them on the fly while listening.i would not touch mp3 with a 99 1/2 foot pole.info:shnhttp://www.etree.org/mkw.htmlf...
Crimping bare speaker cable connections
here's what i've picked up reading post all over the internet:you dont want the signal going through dissimilar metals... that's why using bare wires is the best. the down side is cleaning the corrosion, as you have stated.most people say that cri...
severe limiting factor
i've been playing around and currently have some fine acoustic treatments (bath towels) hanging on the walls. this seemed to help "clean up" the music. after that, i put the speakers 6' apart, which puts them very close to the side walls, and toed...
severe limiting factor
ok, i'm back :)i've been holding off on posting, but i'm sure appreciating all the info that's been presented here.the reason i havn't looked into the phasing issue yet is that i ordered some spade connectors that just came yesterday. i should get...
severe limiting factor
Thanks for the responses so far.I should first say that what I mean by no SS or imaging is that I hear the music coming from the speakers.. not in front of them, behind them, or to their sides. it appears to come right from the wood boxes that are...
