Fluctuating volume in one channel: Part II
Good news!I got my ca-200 back from Classe a few days ago. Including shipping time it was gone for about 2.5 - 3 weeks, but I figure Classe only had it for about one week.I called them to find out exactly what was done to the unit because it's bee...
Which CD side to touch the plastic sleeve?
Whichever way you put discs in a sleeves you run the risk of damaging them. Nothing should ever touch the underside of a disc. Put a disc in a dirty/gritty sleeve and the problem compounds. When discs are packaged on spindles they are separated fr...
Loss of volume in right channel
Crazy, I'm going through the same exact thing right now (but in the L channel). After about 5-10 minutes the left channel cuts out and begins to vary in volume. This is sometimes accompanied by static coming from the speaker.Stehno's method is almo...
Fluctuating volume in one channel: Part II
Earnestmoney, I had already gone to the stores before you replied. I'm a few steps ahead of you :) I actually ended up going to Lowe's and found a different 4 x 8 sheet of foam. This stuff was actually white styrofoam and offered a little more cus...
AAC or MP3 detail loss?
MP3 and AAC are lossy compression schemes. When you convert cd quality audio to MP3 or AAC, you lose information. That information is gone forever. Burning these files to an audio disc in no way gets that information back. You will most likely hea...
Turning Stereo into Alarm Clock?
This is tough because I get the feeling that you don't want to compromise sound quality at all. If you're not too concerned about it, though, you could always just buy a regular alarm clock with a cd player and an analog out and hook it to your pr...
Turning Stereo into Alarm Clock?
I did this for a while with my stereo. It costs nothing... as long as you have a computer is in the same room as your stereo. All you do is hook up your PC to your preamp with an analog cable. Assuming you're running windows, go to Control Panel &g...
Fluctuating volume in one channel: Part II
Earnestmoney, I can't believe what you wrote about packaging up the amp... I already went to Home Depot and found that 4'x8' sheet of foam insulation and decided that it would make great packaging material. Right after I left Home Depot I went to ...
Fluctuating volume in one channel: Part II
Earnest, I have been listening to music for about 5 minutes at a time... after that the left channel cuts out. It's pretty rough :(I narrowed it down (without a doubt) to a faulty amp. I spoke with Classe and will be sending it back as soon as I g...
JoLida 100 potential problem
You can do it :)Disconnect the connectors on the circuit board, remove the screws, and lift it up enough to gain access to the nuts on the bottom of the board. A small wrench set will help hold the nuts when you tighten the screws.
JoLida 100 potential problem
It's pretty tricky to re-tighten those screws because, as pauly said, there are nuts on the back side of the circuit board. When I tightened mine, I loosened the board and pulled it up just enough to get a wrench under the cicuit board. It's tough...
Live infectious funk jams....quality recordings
A lot of Phish shows from the fall of 97 contain many monstrous jams flavored with a healthy dose of space-funk. Some great stuff emerged on that tour. Every show they ever played is available for free (legally) on various trading sites in lossles...
Anyone modded Classe CA300?
In what way does damping the heatsinks change the sound? I have a CA-200 but I don't want to mess with it if I'm not sure what it will do... the amp is too mint to go sticking things to it :)
Woofer dust cap repair advice, HELP
I've seen a tweeter dust cap massaged out with a finger before. The guy rubbed around the dent and it popped out. The dust cap on your woofer is probably thicker...I have also heard of people using a vacuum cleaner. This can probably do more harm ...
Funniest sales pitch
"This ______ sounds as good or better than those costing 2 to 3 times this price."
