Spade termination for Vandersteen 2CE Signature ii
But right inside the speaker and the amp there are soldered connections, so I never really understood the anti-solder argument.  If you refuse to just solder, you may want to think about crimping and then soldering.  There are literally hundreds o...
Which is the best audio magazine?
Ever notice how every Stereophile review is for one single item and it’s always awesome? Not every review is about one single item.  See the Border Patrol DAC review.  While they didn't review the Benchmark DAC3 HGC in this article, they did c...

Bluetone,Unless you really really really really love the 3.5s, like a lot, the smartest thing to do is to get something else, keep an eye out for some drivers that will work in the 3.5s, put them in, and sell them.  They're a finicky speaker that'...

The original 3.5’s mids had paper surrounds. That is very interesting.  I remember my 3.5 mids having a really thin, flimsy surround that definitely did not appear to be rubber.  They seemed to have permanent krinkles in them.  That does not see...

I’m worried you guys might be chasing something that doesn’t exist (a replacement 3.5 mid). Thiel told me that those drivers were no longer available years ago, so I had to have mine rebuilt by them. You might be better off looking into rebuilding...

Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic
Sorry if this was already covered in this thread, but instead of building ICs with double the conductors in parallel, can you get get the same effect by using the normal amount of conductors at twice the gauge?  Meaning, instead of parallel runs o...

Yes....and this change really improves on the first splitter based model....Thanks
Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic
No, Calender, you didn’t understand my question. I wanted to know if anyone made a parallel run with splitters and then reterminated that exact parallel run and noted an improvement.
Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic
Has anyone who has tried this first with splitters reterminated the parallel runs so there is only one set of RCAs and no need for splitters?  What I mean is that you'll still have double the amount of interconnect cable, but the "normal" amount o...

Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
I heard the Muraudio room in Florida and it sounded incredibly shrill and thin Well that doesn't sound very good.

It has been said many times that a Thiel speaker is an Apogee or Magnepan with Bass. Having owned both Thiel and Magnepan, I could not disagree more!  I'm sure the later speakers were much better than the 3.5s, though.  I would love to hear some ...

Thank You for sharing your 3.5 story. Which loudspeaker replaced Thiel in your system? Happy Listening! Magenpan 3.6Rs. It was a huge step up. Earlier, I said that they are at least four times better than the Thiels 3.5s, but I have to retract th...
