Thiel is offically going...going...gone. Auction Time
Thiel was gone long ago.  The company that existed after Jim's death had nothing in common with the real Thiel except for the name.  Now that was sad.  This liquidation is not surprising at all considering how they completely screwed up the brand.
Alert, Warning, and Caution about Modified Components
I only have one question here. Why the heck does EVERY statement Clearthink makes have to be in multiples of three for the adjectives? Is one or two not sufficient to get the point across?Seriously it is REALLY annoying and does detract from any po...

Switching the crossovers will tell you if it's a crossover or driver problem.
Whats that sound with Volume set to off?
I wonder if it is the record vibrating.  Do the two tables have different record clamping systems or platter mats?
Speaker Setup.....
Pdf? Really? In 2019? Don't they know we all use smart phones? Make your info screen adaptive. You have a smartphone in 2019 that can't open a pdf?  What is it, one of those iphones?!

Constrained layer damping tape on toroidal transformer?
Sorry, but not bolting a high voltage component to the chassis is idiotic. Plus, if you isolate the bolt and transformer correctly, it will be like it’s not bolted in at all until you actually need to count on the bolt, like if you pick the compon...
Constrained layer damping tape on toroidal transformer?
Thanks for the tip, Ralph! I think I’ll mount my transformer with a non-magnetic stainless bolt.I would like to know why you say not to use a stainless nut, though. I build a lot of stainless parts for race cars and for food and beverage and try n...

A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
I can see why they are naming DAC's R2R, because that's the only way you can get CD's to sound like LP's; that's by recording them and playing back on a good 2 track; in reality, you have transformed digital into analog, because there is nothi...
Constrained layer damping tape on toroidal transformer?
I just bought a toroidal transformer for a project and it actually came with a foam mounting pad for isolation. I plan on gently tightening the mounting bolt so the foam doesn’t compress too much. Not bolting it down at all seems a little too risky.

Also out of curiosity, why would you need a cross over for the Magnepan? Isn't it just a single panel? The crossover was probably for the subs.  A lot of people don't like subs with Maggies because they feel that the sub is sluggish compared to...
anybody buying into magnetic levitation "eliminates the effects of any vibration" ?
we already know that no iso technique is perfect. Give the guy a break. Ummm.... don’t tell me what to do? Besides, he claims that it is perfect! This allows you to mount the bottom RELAXA platform on any surface and that surface will have zero e...
anybody buying into magnetic levitation "eliminates the effects of any vibration" ?
Mag lev is an effective isolation technique. Yeah, well, it doesn't "eliminate the influence of ANY external vibration" like the ad claims. They also claim" This allows you to mount the bottom RELAXA platform on any surface and that surface will ...
anybody buying into magnetic levitation "eliminates the effects of any vibration" ?
Magnetic levitation is used to isolate the heavy platter for the Verdier Turntable The point of this thread is that magnets don't isolate something from vibration, though.  Any (or at least some) of the vibrations in the Verdier's plinth will tr...
