Hegel hum?
My Hegel H590 has a normal, cyclical, mechanical, ever so slight hum.  In over 25 years in high end audio, I've never owned an amp, whether it be tube or SS, that didn't have some kind of a hum.  Some hums extremely slight, and some more noticeabl...
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore?
I do sometimes listen to a couple of the Roon radio stations.  I enjoy them, too.
Things we cannot be bothered by anymore
Turn tables and CD players.......no more!!!
Subs?
Two subs are always recommended over just one.  You can mate subs with any speaker regardless of size.  The size of the subs should be in accordance with your room size.  A couple of high quality 12" subs would be ideal for your application.  Happ...
Tidal SQ Issues
I use Tidal and Qobuz.  No such issues here.  They both sound heavenly, in my room, through my audio system.  As a matter of fact, between the two, my Roon default is Tidal and not Qobuz.  Happy listening.
My Sonus Faber Amatis have weak bass even though I'm running ML 536s--800 w/ch into 4 ohms
In over 25 years in high end audio, and owning several high-end, full range speakers, I never experienced any speaker, in any of my rooms, that exhibited a lack of bass.  If anything, the speakers sometime exhibit just the opposite, too much bass....
soft dome versus hard dome tweeters
Over the years, I've had just about all the different types of tweeters including: diamond, beryllium, horn, ribbon, ceramic, aluminum, soft dome, titanium and electrostatic.  All the aforementioned tweeter technologies have their redeeming qualit...
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative”…..Part 1: I have a plan
@ezstreams Why go through all this "rigmarole" on a forum like this?  This is the age of high tech with a vast global market and information (new and used) at your disposal via the internet that you can utilize to do your own research.  In additi...
Thinking about going electrostatic
Speaker preferences are so very subjective, only you can determine through trial and error whether or not you'll like Electrostatic speakers.  Go listen to a pair.  If you like them, buy them.  Happy listening.
Would like to get more bass out of my B&W 801 series 2 speakers
@chessie Simple solution: At  only 87db, your speakers are very low efficiency and hard to drive.  You need tons of power, with high damping factor amplification in order to bring out the best in your speakers, including the bass response.  Your ...
My Analog Journey - Opinions Sought
I'm an old guy who grew up on vinyl, CD, and reel-to-reel.  I've been streaming my music exclusively for about the past four years or so.  Whenever I attend audio shows or visit my local audio shops and they play vinyl or CD, of course, it all sou...
Getting a Divorce and can now buy floor standing speakers
Speaker selection is so subjective and in your price range.  There's so many superlative speakers out there to choose from between 20K and 100K.  You've got a good idea of what great speakers are out there on the market in your price range.  Go li...
Do you prefer tall speakers
@fastfreight  Like yourself, I own (my reference speakers) a pair of absolutely phenomenal Revel Salon 2 speakers.  I have my Salon 2s in a decent size room which has a 9 foot ceiling (which is a little taller than average).  In my room, the tall...
Is it the gear or the ears?
@bjpd57a1 Much like the game of golf, high end audio is an individual sport. Who can explain why individual audiophiles do the things that they do, or why? There’s no rhyme or reason. That’s just the way we do it in the beautiful, wacky world of...
ifi LAN iSilencer
@akg_ca  In my audio system, I found the ifi to be the most effective when installed strictly as recommended by the manufacturer.  I have three ethernet cables in my streaming only audio system.  As recommended, I have one ifi plugged directly in...
