All-in-One units for retiring audiophile & music lovers in 2025, say what?
+1 Cabasse Rialto - heard it twice at audio shows, many commented it seemed “underpriced” because of its great sonics and surprisingly deep bass from such a small speaker. In high-end audio, it’s difficult finding quality DAC in an integrated, mu...
Hegel hum?
Seems most audio systems are enjoyed having your ears equidistant from the speakers, rather that a foot from the amp 😉
A cable too perfect?
@zlone  I’m still undecided about getting a cable cooker. Many says improvements. Some cook their cables periodically.
My Sonus Faber Amatis have weak bass even though I'm running ML 536s--800 w/ch into 4 ohms
@torke - need more info What’s your audio chain electronics+speakers What’s the size of your room WxDXH?
Should I replace my 20-year-old Hovland Radia Amp?
@audio-b-dog  Finding subjectively ideal sonics within budget can be daunting, sticking with the Sonics you like in your amp is a solid choice.
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative”…..Part 1: I have a plan
@ezstreams AXPONA - great choice. For Sonics that you like, take notes of audio chain components- source, electronics, speakers so you can sift through them later to narrow down your preferences/choices. Maybe you’ll get lucky and find out your i...
speaker upgrade fever
JA Pulsar 2 graphene monitors - great choice! Looks like a good match from your sonic preferences (jazz, acoustic Americana, Chamber, symphonic) meaning you seem to value acoustical accuracy without sacrificing musicality. Both your Mimas and Puls...
looking for bookshelves - Another usual boring speaker discussion
I think the OP is making a mistake by not considering the Harbeth M30.2 XD or the M40.3 XD. IIRC they have a more musical sound than the other Harbeth models and is Harbeth+Hegel commonly known as an ideal synergistic combo.
Hi end audio equip sounds better today than in decades past due to tech - T/F
Yes- speaking of the latest DACs, speakers, equipment. Technology marches on. Many who disagree are stuck in the past, often motivated by very limited budgets. They haven’t demoed the latest gear. They stop at good enough, which is not the same a...
The Streamer-Dac-Preamp Chain
@debrajray As others mentioned, probably a bad idea to get a preamp+streamer+DAC in one box because most DACs are an afterthought rather than a high-quality DAC which is costly. Therefore it’s generally sonically better to get DAC separately. A ...
3k budget for Turntable and Phono Noob- do I need external power supplies?
Music Hall turntables are rarely mentioned by Agoners, wonder if any good for the money
Would I be wasting my money to get a turntable?
@fritzenheimer Congrats! Analog and digital are both enjoyable - I have both.  If shopping, you may find inexpensive vinyl at garage sales or used vinyl records stores.  Also, clean vinyl often pays significant sonic dividends
A cable too perfect?
@zlone just teasing a bit ;) Sometimes in an emotional storm, logic goes out the window- simply human nature  Hope you land in a great place. Good luck
The Disappearing Act
If disappearing means 3D sound field, then when I started my high-end audio journey I visited a brick and mortar audio store. There I heart GoldenEar Triton speakers hooked up to Parasound electronics.  I was gobsmacked when I heard a 3D sound fie...
