Dealers and exaggerated treble I think people have different sensitivity to treble curves. So you may be quite different from a dealer in that regard and there is nothing "wrong." Also, dealers usually carry different speaker lines for different ears, so unless they are all bri...
Rockport Avior 2 vs Wilson Sasha DAW Congrats on the decision! Which color did you spring for?
New updated Dynaudio Confidence line. If the cabinets are really made in China, that's disappointing. Part of the Dynaudio experience was getting real Danish artisan cabinets and veneers. I can understand entry lines being ported to China, but Confidence speakers are the flagship and ...
I went to THE show and didn't make any friends ... Good thing there are lots of Vandy fans on this forum Erik :)I've heard them sound really good - at the LAX show a few years ago the 7s and 9s were absolutely amazing. A truly special show experience. But commonly they are just too laid back for m...
I went to THE show and didn't make any friends ... Interesting how ears are different - I found the Vandy room sleepy (as usual) and the M2s on Burmester borderline dead. I guess I prefer more dynamic sound (and tbh don't value imaging as much). I, too, am sensitive to hot tweeters from all the wa...
Anyone going to the 2019 "The Show?" I enjoyed the Thrax room most. Also thought the Stenheim, YG, and Wilson TuneTots (yes, I was as skeptical as you are) were good. The big Altecs were fun as were the Hornings for something a little different than the normal gear.
Rockport Avior 2 vs Wilson Sasha DAW Thanks, Carey - from my auditions this year:1. Neither the Wilson or Rockport has any brightness or harshness. I don't know how Andy Payor does it in the latter. 2. Rockport has superior tone with tighter, articulate bass. Best ported bass I've au...
Rockport Avior 2 vs Wilson Sasha DAW Wilson is much harder to setup. What are your top three criteria for speakers? Might make things easier to recommend.
Speakers under $50k that rival $200k+ speakers? I don't think the hypothesis really exists because even with Maggies, amp budget is huge (think 50k+ for SOTA) and requires subs which are hard to integrate. Apples and oranges.
Rockport Avior 2 vs Wilson Sasha DAW My Rockport dealer loved the Atria most in his room where I heard the Altairs (which were a hair big for it, but it wasn't small). I've also heard they are the most coherent Rockport. He also told me the entire line has the same sound, just bigger ...
Zu Druid 6 Phil- would you recommend people do Druid VI with Submission subs or simply wait until Sean's next Definition for a medium-sized room?
How come Horn + woofer designs are not more popular? In the US, simple: aesthetics
Rockport Avior 2 vs Wilson Sasha DAW carey1110- I've done fairly extensive writeups on Whatsbestforum in my speaker search including both Rockport and the Wilson DAW. Not the Aviors, but rather the bigger Altairs. Check it out under my "Dream Speaker Search." I hope this helps!
Where can I demo JBL speakers? I found JBL Co. a total waste when I tried to demo K2s. I was forwarded to the western region manager who never even responded. The store in Manhattan has one of the worst 2 channel setups ever. Don't bother. Apparently you can hear the Everest li...
How far have ss amps really come in the last twenty years? Daveyf- the DartZeel is still my favorite SS amp after all these years and I've compared it at a local dealer with the newer Dagostino stuff. I think it was released in the early 00s with a few upgrades since.I owned the Concentra 2 integrated whi... |
