Tube rolling in Cayin A-88T
I've tried all the taps and definately prefer the 8 Ohm. In my system the 4 Ohm limits the dynamics, bass..everything is flat sounding. The 16 Ohm is a bit bright..8 Ohm perfect! I listen exclusively in UL mode. The Triode less coherent and < d...
Audioart cables....... What do you guys think??
Ill post this mini review here if you will allow Eccbo...This may be of some help to you.I tried a pair of Rob's IC-3 last year and was very impressed with them. At the time, I was using several different tube integrated amps..( Manley Stingray, P...
integrated tube amp recommendations, with remote
Yes Bartokfan...Id say that is correct. The A88T is rich and textural sounding in the mids with excellent extension of the bass/highs without harshness. Im not fond of the 300B tube due to its limited extension. True it has glorious mids, but must...

Ravi,Look at the Cayin A-88T/KT-88 integraded. Sells new for $1895. Ive seen a few used in the $1500 range. I love mine, and the remote is great! Kt-88 tubes with 45 very powerful watts in Ultralinear mode. Killer sound IMO.

Great sound with VH Audio Flavor 4 cord. I think this cord works well with many components. Im very impressed with it on both this amp and my Cayin 17A CD.
where to go to find these speakers of choice????
Make sure you ask John to demo his 5A's. They are paired with the new ARC Ref gear.....Incredible!
What speakers can make a convert of Maggie lovers?
Hi Dave,If I ever went back to a planer type...it would surely be an Apogee with updated XO's and ribbons! Puts Maggies to shame IMO.Now..take your meds! ;-)

Kag,Haven't rolled the input tubes as yet. I have experience with the RCA grey glass VT-231 GT tube from the 50's. I thought it was definately a smoothie, but I actually liked the linearity of the stock EH tubes in my former Cary amp. The Cary def...
Tube rolling in Cayin 17A
Well, the Teslas Mil Spec E88CC gold pins (cross sword white label) are a bit of a dissapointment, so back they go.To my ears, they sound just like the Siemens CCa of the early 60's..(they are actually 60's Siemens copies with splatter shield) so ...

Kag,I got the biasing info from Steve at Vas Audio in NJ. Seems relatively simple. Bias point of 0.4V (40mV) per tube. Clark at Acoustic Sounds was nice enough to have Vas Audio send the info to me. I will definately check bias and make sure the T...

Audio Research VTM 120 .......any experience?
I owned the VTM-120 mono's a few years back. I used them with several speaker types including Martin Logan SL3's and then VonSchweikert VR2's. I have to agree with Lostbears that they were not the best sounding amps. IMO they were rather dry sound...

Thanks Mike! Yes indeed. Been around many amps over the years and always seem to find that well designed modest power tube integrateds offer the nicest sound. My other favorite was the Manley Stingray, which does well by the music with a punchy mi...
