Harshness in Midrange??? Any Help Normally i would address the room first and foremost..But IMHO its the ARC Ls-16 and low cost Kimber's not doing you any favors. This is a very neutral, but near sterile sounding pre amp. Your 802D's are very good paired with the right amp..Not br...
Stand out phono stages I have heard my buddy's Sutherland PHD, battery powered phono pre amp and was very favorably impressed. Its one of the quietest phono pre's avail, and that makes a very big difference IMO. If I wasn't keeping my CJ PV-5, which has a superb phono i...
Shout out for Better Records I second Viridian...my "hot stamper" cost dearly, sounded crappy and was warpped to boot..Ill buy my lp's elsewhere.
Canadian Pressings. I have a few Warner Bros.and Geffin Canadian Pressings which are excellent and are a bit better quality pressings and sonically superior to the LA, Calf. Studio pressings IMO. The record shops whom I deal with for used vinyl seem to like them as w...

Anybody tube rolled 845's? If you go with the Chinese tubes..I recommend the Shuguang 845B. Its warmer than the metal plates (845C) and about 90% of their transparency IMO, and less expensive. A very good sounding tube. I agree with Nickt in that they are good enough to lis...
A question I suspect reveals a lot of ignorance... I believe that when a tube amp is at idle, it draws full rated power/current. Increasing volume doesn't draw more than its rated power...however, it can drive the amp to clipping, which can be detrimental to the life of the tubes..especially tubes...
What's the limit for cart upgrade/VPI Scout? I will agree with all of the above for sure. But, I will also say this...If you look one step up from the Dorian at the Argo i, you will upgrade your rig considerably without doing anything else, and for not a huge investment more. The Argo i is s...

I found they worked very well.I also use their SC-5 speaker cables from the 2105. Excellent performance for not alot of $$$.My Dad is currently using the IC-3 from hi... |
