Amp/ preamp for electostatics and why Look into Sanders Sound Systems. They specialize in Electrostatic systems. This company used to be called Innersound. They have a nice preamp/amp combo you may want to check out.
Buy tubes from Audio Research or not Tater, with ARC I think you are pretty much going to be stuck with the brand they carry. I'm sure they choose what brands to choose on the basis of reliability and price points. The sound quality may be good too, but what they have may not be your...
Audio Research Ref 5 preamp No, I stand corrected. My Tung-sol 6550s were made in Russia. Even so, they sure sound pretty good to my ears.
Audio Research Ref 5 preamp yeah, I have the American version. I originally bought them for extra tube for a Cayin KT 88 (was using 6550s in place of the 88s). Okay, then I will drop the Tung Sol in the ARC REF 5. Thanks for the helpful response.
Audio Research Ref 5 preamp say I want to tube roll the stock 6550c tube. I have a Tung Sol 6550, is it okay if I drop that in? I just want to make sure because I don't know what 6550c means in comparison to 6550. Also, there hasn't been any post, buzz or reviews on this pre...
Looking for integrated w/ good dynamics kick You need to look into the Unison Research Unico SE. Better yet, there is a modded version. This amp has plenty of kick and is just a great integrated overall. Plenty of reviews you can look at.
Tidal Contriva Diacera or Aerial 20T V2 Hi Argyro. Regarding preference in music. I am not sure about up the Tidal line, but in the Piano series, at least according Jorn, the type of music does make a difference. What they told me is the Piano Cera is a better speaker overall than the P...
AAD Q50 Speakers I had the E-48s back in 2002. I thought they were as about as good as you can get at sub 1000.00s. Really good speaker with rock.
What's the best system in the world? Not sure a reference can be qualified. Everyone has different taste. One guys reference may be annoying to someone else. Can I ask why you are asking? Are you looking at putting together a new system?
Does Technology Trump Quality? If it sounds good, I could care less about the tech. I enjoy reading and learning about the technical part, but that is just the icing on the cake.
Audio Research Ref5 KT88 I have the REF 5, but have not even thought about changing to the KT88. I did change my Cayin KT88 to the Tungsol 6550. I liked the 6550 better in that amp.
Speakers for Simaudio No doubt about it, speakers in room interaction is hugely important. I switched rooms with my speaker and it was darn right shocking the difference it made. I blew a lot of cash trying different electronics trying to make things really come alive....
Speakers for Simaudio Check out the WLM La Scala. Very good with Sim.
Previous ref 3 owners, what's in your system now Yeah no big deal. Thanks. Okay now back on topic.
Previous ref 3 owners, what's in your system now Yeah, I knew that, but when the first post from No_Money appeared, it did not say Vandersteen, it just said 5a. How is one to know that out of all the multitude of audio and speaker manufactures out there they were talking about the Vandersteen? |
