TechDAS Reliability vs SME
I have listened to Sota Sapphire and TechDas AFV in my system.  I use a Kuzma 4P9 and my next table will most likely be a Kuzma Stabi R (on my Vibraplane) or a Galibier table.  The TechDas is an amazing table. The vacuum and air bearing technology...
SUT - electrical theory and practical experience
Thanks @intactaudio.  Your SUT has made a big difference in the quality of my friend’s stereo.  It works wonders with his Lyra and Marantz 7C pre. I think my listening impressions had a lot to do with my system, the cartridge and what I like. I en...
SUT - electrical theory and practical experience
I had a chance to listen to EM/IA SUT in my stereo yesterday.  It was a 1:10 Cu version made for my friends combination of a Lyra Atlas and Marantz 7C preamp. Cable was a .6 meter Nordost Quatrofil. On my turntable yesterday was a SoundSmith Hyper...
Tonearm Parallel?
I have to say that I really like using the WAM reference tool kit. It is a great way to know when the headshell will hold the cart parallel to the record surface. It will also confirm a neutral azimuth from the headshell perspective.  Great set up...
Lyra Kleos arrives after eight months. . Worth the wait? First impressions
A nice 1:10 ratio SUT going into the 47k input would also be a potential improvement.  But I’d wait for several months to let the cart open up and get to know its capabilities.
Field coil dava cartridge
@pindac +1  Excellent counterpoint!
A New MC to Catch One's Attention
AT-MC 2022: Sure is tidy. Love the design.
Cartridge burn-in
I think experienced vinyl users here have experienced two different types of cartridge break in and have noted a variance in need for break in depending on the design or model of the cartridge.  My SoundSmith MIMC star took a long time to start sh...

Early SOTA vs New Something: Conundrum
Hey man, some vacuums are really loud and frightening.  And smelly. I seriously enjoy the @lewm @mijostyn sparring.
Analog Upgrade itch
OK @eddiechanghk!  This is going to get juicy!    Expect lots of different opinions on the superiority of the MM+SUT versus the dedicated MM/MC phono pre.  My experience with both is that it depends on the system.  When selecting a high quality ...
Analog Upgrade itch
As a user of the Vibraplane, I'll just add that it is very easy to adjust even when its loads are not centered. My belt driven turntable is very heavy compared to the motor pod which means most of the weight is to one side of the Vibraplane. I pur...
Early SOTA vs New Something: Conundrum
The advantage of upgrading your SOTA will make it equivalent to a new table.  Getting that arm inspected and properly installed will allow whatever new cartridge you choose to shine.  I would upgrade your table and decide on a cartridge that fits ...
Analog Upgrade itch
I recently decided between a 4 point and a 4 point 9.  I am very happy with my choice.  The VTA tower on the 4 point is well made but seldom used.  In general, VTA is set it an forget it based on the specific cartridge you are using. You can still...

@sksos Thanks for your insight.  As a Vibraplane user and someone interested in mounting two tonearms (FR-64S for Koetsu and Kuzma 4 point 9 for everything else), it sounds like not much would be gained by going for a Stabi M over a Stabi R.
