Non-audiophile needs help with older system.
You didn't mention your CD player brand/model but all your other components - less the Onkyo, are individually very good. If your CD player is even average, you should be getting good sound from your system. My guess is either the tubes in the LS1...
Small Bedroom Tube Amp
It depends on how you're planning to use it and what sources you'll be using. This may sound like a completely different option but in my opinion, the simplest approach for a bedroom system is a Bluesound Sound Bar. It sounds great, and its an all...
want to ditch my Brooklyn to streamer..thoughts?
Those of you experiencing hiccups during play with the Node2 and using the WiFi connectivity, I strongly recommend to keep it as far away as you can from your TV or any other device that uses a remote control, preamp, integrated amp, or even your ...
Received your Magnepan 30.7’s Yet
"Can the 30.7 owner do it to in their home?"Why couldn't they? Most dealer showrooms and most shows for that matter, are not capable of demonstrating very large speakers effectively. In most if not all cases like these, the dealers are more than w...
Devore Orangutan O/96 Resale Value
That listing is already sold.
Another Bi-wiring question: Amp related
Thanks for all the inputs. Appreciate it. I encourage folks with amps that have different, e.g., 2, 4, 8, etc., Ohm taps to experiment with this bi-wiring approach, assuming (obviously) you run two separate cables. You may be pleasantly surprised....
System Rebuild
bondmanp, thanks for the detailed response. Appreciate it.
want to ditch my Brooklyn to streamer..thoughts?
"But the Node2's digital outputs do NOT support MQA into another DAC even if the DAC supports it as does the Brooklyn"Not true. If the downstream DAC supports full MQA decoding, Node2 will just pass the source through with the first level encoding...
McIntosh C2300 noise
Sounds like a tube noise. Just as an experiment, gently tap the phono tubes while you hear the noise and see if that affects the frequency or pitch.
System Rebuild
bond, how’s the soundstaging and imaging with the Ohms? I’ve only heard them at shows and always felt they had more of an “enveloping” and diffused sound and a blur soundstage. Of course the hotel rooms in shows are never ideal.
rebuilding after a fire
Sorry to hear about your mishap. You seem to have a pretty decent system already. If you’re looking to build a separate two channel system, there are a lot of great integrated amplifiers out there within a wide range of budget and you may find it ...
McIntosh C2300 noise
^^^^^^Excellent question.
Another Bi-wiring question: Amp related
He recommends bi-wiring but I was more curious to hear how would the amp handle the use of both taps at the same time. I’m guessing the amp wouldn’t care but just wanted confirmation from the experts. No filters in path, straight bi-wire using two...
Upgrade from ADS L1230
Those speakers tend to have a very solid/tight bass if placed/positioned properly in the room. Experiment with different distances behind and to the sides. If they are directly on the rug, use longer spikes and anchor them to the floor through the...
How much do I need to spend to get a preamp that sounds better than no preamp?
george, you just proved Ralph's point with help from Nelson. Noise is audible. The rest of your post is BS pushing your product.
