Rega P2, Thorens TD-180 or Music Hall MMF-5.1?
I have an MMF-5.1 and agree with the claim that it's hard to tweak. Adjusting the azimuth was a real pain, and I still think I don't have it right. Instructions say that VTA, azimuth, and cartridge alignment are setup at the factory. Don't trust t...
MMF-5.1 Azimuth Adjustment - Need Help
The screw on the side actually was the set screw. I just didn't realize that you had to use a lot of force to rotate the tone arm once that screw was loosened. All is good now.PS. Sorry about the double post, not sure how that happened.
Unstable Imaging - Causes?
From what I've read in the manual for the MMF-5.1, adjusting the azimuth can be a pain. What is a "headshell?" Is that a particular tool for measuring azimuth? Cause I'm wondering how anyone could get it perfect without some kind of tool to tell y...
Unstable Imaging - Causes?
Well I haven't noticed the issue when listening to CDs, which is why I'm suspecting the TT setup. I will try these suggestions to see if anything helps. Maybe it could be an issue with azimuth? Thanks
Bellari Hum
I'm noticing that the hum comes and goes. There is no consistentcy here. It may happen for 5 minutes at a time, then I won't hear it for a good hour or so, then it will come back. Very frustrating.
Is cheap, smooth, digital sound possible?
Well what I've done as a temporary solution is install Rockbox on my 5th gen iPod and set the treble cutoff frequency around 14,500 Hz. This actually makes listening bearable, but does seem to cut out a lot in the upper range. I'm willing to live ...
Bellari Hum
I also enjoy the sound. I either didn't notice the hum until last night, or it just started. I may try using a ground adapter that plugs into the wall and has only a single wire coming out for a ground connection. I'll leave the ground wire betwee...
Bellari VP129 as a CD-Player Preamp?
Point taken.Well my player is an NAD T532, with the T162 preamp. I've heard the NAD T532 through a passive Adcom preamp and it still sounded horrible; very unsmooth and jagged sound. I think my only solution here is to ditch the T532.
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
How is R/O water any better than distilled water? These steamers state that distilled water is sufficient. I was under the impression that the process of distillation removes all minerals, because they can not evaporate with the water and condense.
Packing MMF 5
I just purchased a 5.1 and it was put together for me by the guy that owns the shop, so I have no idea how stuff was packed. I'll probably have the same problem if/when I do sell mine....
Why vinyl?
"I believe that digital is just now catching up with analog, but, based on what I hear, it's the gap has disappeared. Unfortunately, you can't buy much at the highest possible resolutions."I totally agree with this statement. To me, standard redbo...
Digital downloads better than redbook audio?
I actually already did see the first site. But the selection here is extremely limited, unfortunately.
Why vinyl?
From the second article:"As for the actual sound quality, the argument is debatable at best, and completely moot at worst. Only the most discerning audiophile can spot the difference on any kind of respectable sound system"Obviously this guy is no...
How do you know when a cartridge has broken in?
It seems very gradual to me...it happened during my first week of listening. But you'll definitely notice. The sound becomes less "stiff," soundstaging improves, etc. I'm no analog expert, I'm actually just getting into it, but those are my observ...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
FYI for those interested in buying the "Perfection Steamer" from Walgreen's. You have until March 29 to purchase this unit and receive the $10 rebate. I picked one up yesterday and began steam cleaning some LPs, and I have to say I'm very impresse...
